We are hiring an OBC Controller for our client. The person in this role will oversee the onboard computer and camera systems for a fleet of over 350 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and 75 light vehicles (LVs). The primary responsibilities include tracking fleet movements, analyzing OBC data, managing any system violations, and working with both internal and external teams to ensure safety and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, cutting-edge technology, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all fleet vehicles have working onboard computer (OBC) units and monitor their performance.
• Track vehicle movements in real time and ensure OBC data is accurate for full compliance.
• Provide daily reports on any violations for both Light Vehicles and HGVs, promptly raising safety concerns.
• Coordinate OBC maintenance with service providers to ensure timely repairs and updates.
• Keep a complete record of verified OBC violations, with daily, weekly, and monthly trend reports.
• Share a daily list of available trucks with the dispatch team and update the status of trucks under maintenance.
• Track current and past vehicle locations as needed, keeping consistent records for HSEQ meetings.
• Monitor in-cabin and fatigue cameras daily, activating alerts for any violations.
• Work with “safe to load” operators to check truck conditions and OBC functionality before entry to depots.
• Report and follow up on issues flagged by the monitoring system with transporters and management, ensuring corrective actions.
• Help with journey planning and logistics, tracking important locations.
• Coordinate with dispatch to ensure vehicle availability and improve travel times.
• Submit monthly safety reports, including three near-miss reports and one stop card.
• Attend all required HSE training sessions and use provided PPE correctly.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or high-potential risks, and stop unsafe activities when necessary.
• Follow site safety rules and properly dispose of hazardous materials and waste.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field with bias in IT.
• 2 years of experience in motor vehicle electronics, mechanics, or computer and camera control is a plus.
• Proven experience in transport operations with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, result-driven, and self-motivated.
• Strong focus on customer service, teamwork, and commitment to safety.
