Background
Due to the Increasing trends in disease outbreaks that result from animal-human-environment interactions, there is a new global paradigm of doing things together to solve health challenges, Multidisciplinary individuals with transformative knowledge and ability to prevent and mitigate risks at the animal-human-ecosystems interface are needed in order to achieve “One Health”.
Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) is a network of institutions of Public Health, Veterinary and Environmental Health, located in 18 universities in 9 African countries. Under Makerere University, AFROHUN is calling for applications for the Makerere University One Health Institute Field Attachment, Cohort 2022 The One Health Institute Field Attachment is a multidisciplinary, experiential training in community engagement concerning assessment of infectious disease threats. As part of the program, successful applicants will attend mandatory theoretical classes between January and March 2022, followed by a field attachment in April 2022. Students will carry out One Health Field activities which will involve site visits, community education, awareness campaigns, home visits, etc in their home areas. The students will be expected to present their findings at the end of the attachment to the relevant stakeholders. The training will be conducted using a blended format that involves MUELE (Makerere University E-Learning Environment) and physical interaction where applicable.

Funding & Support
Participants will be supported with internet to enable them complete the on-line theoretical classes. This program is non-residential, each participant will be required to cater for their own accommodation, however all field activities in relation to this training will be funded as per the funder’s guidelines.
Target participants
The applicants targeted are Makerere University undergraduate students who are currently in their final semester December,2021 plus semi-finalist as of December,2021. Interested applicants should have a great potential for leadership, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and a vested interest in advancing the emerging field of One . Health and must commit time off to attend on-line and field work.

Who should apply?
• Undergraduate Makerere University students in their final semester of December 2021 plus semi-finalist of December 2021.
• The fields of Social Sciences, Public Health, Mass Communication, IT, Veterinary, Nursing, Law, Human Medicine, Agriculture, Environment, Business, Laboratory Sciences, psychology Education, Performing Arts, Law and other Health Sciences.
• Fluent in English communication (listening, speaking, writing, and understanding).
• A recommendation from his/her academic supervisor from Makerere University.
• Fully available for the on-line theoretical training between January and March 2022 and thereafter for a Field Attachment between March and April 2022.
• Should have full time access to a laptop or a smart phone.
• Should have a functional email account. Having a functional MUELE Account will be an added advantage.
