The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned the Gesellschaft fϋr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with implementing the “Enhancing Good Governance in Sudan” Programme. This intervention aims to strengthen Sudanese civil society actors in their efforts to contribute to peaceful and inclusive development in Sudan.
The programme comprises four areas of intervention, namely 1) enable Sudanese civil society actors to continue their work outside and inside of Sudan, 2) supporting Sudanese citizens to engage in inclusive activities strengthening peace and social cohesion, 3) to connect Sudanese civil society and to elevate their voices as well as 4) to support adaptive and context-sensitive implementation.
GIZ Uganda is recruiting Organisational Development Advisor to successfully realize the implementation of the programme, with a focus on intervention area 1.

Knowledge, skills and competences
• Proficiency in English; excellent command of Arabic is a strong asset.
• Proven knowledge of Sudan and its civil society is a strong asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, especially real-time collaboration and messaging.
Responsibilities
A. Key Responsibilities
The Organisational Development Advisor will be responsible for:
• Advising Sudanese civil society organisations regarding their organisational development and technical capacity building needs.
• Supporting the strengthening of cooperation among Sudanese diaspora organisations and their networks.
• Coordinating activities and exploring synergies with other relevant GIZ programmes, especially the GIZ Uganda Governance programme and contributing to monitoring and evaluation as well as communication efforts of the Sudan Governance Programme.
B. Specific Tasks
The Organisational Development Advisor performs the following tasks:
1. Advising Sudanese CSOs regarding their organisational development and technical capacity building needs
• Mapping and networking with Sudanese civil society networks in Uganda and the region, their work and potential capacity development needs.
• Providing technical advice to Sudanese CSOs, in coordination with the GIZ Uganda Governance Programme, on the following areas:
1. Establishing new partnerships with selected Sudanese diaspora civil society organisations based in Uganda.
2. Technically supporting the review and strengthening of internal governance and organisational capacities.
3. Identifying and coordinating with local and international OD/CD service providers
• Providing technical support to the development and implementation of different cooperation modalities with programme partners, including the management of consultancies and financial agreements.
2. Supporting the strengthening of cooperation among Sudanese diaspora organisations and their networks
• Contributing to networking and peer-to-peer-learning meetings of Sudanese CSOs.
• Supporting in the organisation of thematic events with the participation of relevant Sudanese CSOs and other stakeholders.
3. Coordinating activities and exploring synergies with other relevant GIZ programmes, especially the GIZ Uganda Governance programme and contributing to monitoring and evaluation as well as communication efforts of the Sudan Governance Programme
• Ensuring regular, transparent and pro-active communication within the team and with other relevant GIZ programmes, both in physical and virtual formats.
• Supporting the internal and external representation of the programme in coordination with the line manager.
• Ensuring visual documentation of activities, collection of stories and other relevant material with the appropriate consent.
• Ensuring smooth project implementation, including project development, planning and management, budget development and monitoring, monitoring and evaluation, reporting.
Other Duties/Additional Tasks
• Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Social Science, Development Studies.

• 5 years of professional experience in similar field.
