Job details:
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research center in Uganda to support MSF projects in the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective, Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), A full-time experienced research team is based at the Epicentre Mbarara Research Center.

The Mbarara research center is located in Mbarara Municipality, 300 km South-West to Kampala. The main health facility is Mbarara National Referral Hospital which is also a teaching hospital for the MUST. This is the referral hospital for the Western region of Uganda with a capacity of 240 beds. The research center is structured into several departments: administration, logistics, laboratory, data management.

PHARMACIST (1 POSITION)
Location: MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre in (EMRC), Uganda.
Reports to: The Director of MSFIEpicentre Mbarara Research Centre.
Duration: 1 year, renewable

General responsibilities (not exhaustive)

• Pharmacy management
  
• Preparing the national and international medical and laboratory material orders for the studies in collaboration with the Principle investigators (PIs) and laboratory manager '
  
• Participates in study protocol development and writing reports
  
• Assists the PIs in the planning of medical supply for the study
  
• Ensures that all drugs and medical equipment are stored in a locked I secure environment with access limited to essential and appropriate research personnel.
  
• Supervising of pharmacy staff including but not limited to the assistant pharmacist
  
• Management and accountability of investigational products in clinical trials
  
• Ensuring and training of other research centre staff on pharmacovigilancy

Qualification;

• Working experience in research institutions in general is desirable, clinical trials in particular, knowledge of Good Clinical Practice is desirable.
  
• BSc in Pharmacy and registration with Uganda Pharmacy Council,
  
• Fluent in English, spoken and written.
  
• Competencies: teamwork, flexibility, commitment and service, knowledge of MS Office.
