Job details:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is implementing a project to establish the National Farmers’ Leadership Centre (NFLC) at Kampiringisa in Mpigi District. The project which started in 2011 is funded by a bilateral grant from the Republic of Korea through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Construction of buildings and other infrastructure is almost completed and the equipping the centre with requisite equipment and materials is on-going. Based on the Korean experience, NFLC focuses on mind-set change training for Agricultural leaders, community leaders and the political and civic leaders for the overall rural transformation.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries, wishes to invite suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to fill the following vacant positions at the National Farmers‘ Leadership Centre (NFLC)

POST – INSTRUCTION MINDSET CHANGE
Number of Vacancies: One (01)
Salary Scale: Attractive
Age: 21 years and above
Report to: Principal

The Incumbent will be responsible to the principal in performing the following duties;
Duties and responsibilities

  • Training the participants on the basics of Saemaul Undong Model;
  • Prepare booklets and training materials for the participants;
  • Assist in developing training programs that are based on mind-set changing;
  • Take the lead in the morning exercises for the training program;
  • Monitoring the training programs to ensure that the participants are putting into practice the Saemaul Undong and pioneering spirit throughout the whole training;
  • Take a lead during the group discussion in the trainings;
  • Create and monitor a Saemaul Undong Model Village from the selected villages;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal.

Technical/Professional Qualification and Working Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in any field OR a Diploma in Social Sciences from a recognized Institute with extensive work experience of over 5 years in facilitating trainings in Saemaul Undong Model activities. A certificate in Saemaul Undong Model training is a plus. Membership to Uganda Saemaul Movement is desirable.

Technical Competence

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, extra hours with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to effectively train and motivate others;
  • Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
  • Effective planning, organizing and coordination skills;

Behavioral Competence

  • Must be of a high integrity;
  • Must be a team player;
  • Must demonstrate high level of professionalism;
  • Should be able to work calmly under pressure
  • Well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Ability to live and work in an institution and camp environment

Applicants who will not hear from the Ministry upon completion of recruitment and selection exercise should consider themselves unsuccessful. All jobs are on contract basis for a period of one year, renewable based on satisfactory performance and includes a six months probationary period.
