Experience and Other requirements:
• 6 years’ experience with at least two (2) years at Senior Officer level.
• Professional qualification in communications.
• Analytical, Interpersonal skills, Report writing, Communication skills.
• Must be knowledgeable in the use of computer applicationsProven leadership skills
• Objectivity and independence
• Possess the ability to work as a team.
• Analytical, interpersonal and change management skills.

Qualifications:
• A Masters’ degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public and Media Relations or any other relevant field is an added advantage
• A Post Graduate Diploma qualification in Media Studies, Public Relations or any other relevant field.
• An Honors Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, and Media Studies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Review, update and implement the PR and Media relations strategy, and the Content strategy.
2. Review, update, educate and ensure compliance with the internal communication crisis management plan.
3. Initiate and drive online and social media programs for publicity to create awareness of the Bureau.
4. Collaborate with the Section of Dissemination and Communication to create public and media statistical focused content and plan for its timely dissemination to meet UBOS’ priority audience needs.
5. Draft responses to media queries on matters of statistical nature in consultation with the respective Heads of Dept and Executive Director.
6. Establish, collaborate and maintain media relationships and manage all media accounts.
7. Manage engagements in the Office of the Executive Director, media interviews, press conferences and organize publicity activities to build awareness of the Bureau’s products in collaboration with respective statistical departments.
8. Identify and address risk issues in the media that might damage the public’s perception about UBOS and her partners.
9. Draft, review internal communication products e.g., bulletins, newsletters, podcasts, videos.
10. Compile and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
11. Coordinate the development of the department’s annual budget, workplan, procurement plan and training plan.
12. Supervise, develop staff in the department and conduct performance appraisals.
13. Prepare and submit timely accountability for resources.
14. Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
