PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• To supervise the development, implementation and evaluation of the quality of University processes and products of teaching, learning, research and community service.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Support the Quality Assurance Manager in developing or reviewing the quality assurance framework, tools and strategies for approval by Council or other relevant decision-making organ of the University.
• Monitor compliance to the established quality assurance framework and other legal, policy and strategic requirements and programs.
• Provide technical and professional support to the various academic and administrative units in the implementation or enhancement of quality assurance systems within the University.
• Supervise the Quality Assurance teams conducting quality assurance and quality enhancement activities of the University.
• Support the Quality Assurance Manager in planning, implementing and improving the quality management systems of the University.
• Assess and advises on the reports generated by the Quality Assurance Teams and quality feedbacks from the various units of the University.
• Coordinate the provision of technical support to University units in dealing with challenges for implementation of quality programs.
• Support the Quality Assurance Manager in the conduct of external quality management system audits and conformity assessments.
• Organise and participate in the sensitisation, education and training both staff and other relevant Stakeholders in Quality Management Systems.
• Compile and submit to the Quality Assurance Manager regular quality assurance audit or inspections reports.
• Innovate and advise the Quality Assurance Manager on improvement processes and procedures of quality assurance.
• Any other such duty as assigned by the supervisor.
KEY OUTPUTS
• Quality assurance framework, plans, tools and strategies developed or reviewed for approval by Council.
• Response to and implementation of policies and decisions, quality standards and any quality requirements by recognised decision-making authorities managed.
• Quality assurance requirements for teaching, learning, research and community outreach programs monitored and advice tendered.
• Technical and professional support for implementation or enhancement of quality assurance systems within the University provided.
• Quality Assurance teams and quality assurance and quality enhancement activities supervised.
• Quality management systems of the University planned, implemented and continually improved.
• Quality assurance or inspection reports evaluated.
• Provision of technical support in eliminating impediments to implementation of quality programs managed.
• Conduct of quality management system audits and conformity assessments coordinated.
• Sensitization, education and training of both staff and other relevant Stakeholders in Quality Management Systems done.
• Periodic reports on quality assurance audits prepared and submitted.
PERSONS SPECIFICATIONS
• Should have at least a Master’s degree.
• Should have experience in quality rating and assessment.
• ISO certification as a qualified Auditor or Assessor is an added advantage.
• Should be proficient in the use of information technology.
• Should have five (5) years proven experience of management in a reputable institution of higher learning and broad knowledge of academic systems.
• Should have good communication and people skills.
• Should have knowledge standards and practices of quality assurance governing Public Universities.
• Should have demonstrated an acceptable level of personal integrity.
• Should be computer literate
