About the Job:
The vocational institute offers a variety of courses which include; Carpentry and Joinery, Bio-waste Management, Hairdressing, Fashion & Design and Catering. The Principal oversees the day to day operations of the Institute and provides technical curriculum leadership and guidance in all the academic programs.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop objectives for the Vocational Training Institute (VTI) that align with Nurture Africa's Vision, Mission and values.
• Maintain and enhance the academic reputation of the VTI.
• Oversee the quality of programs and procedures of VTI.
• Monitor and evaluate the vocational Tutors class work, research, engagements and teaching activities both at the center, urban villages and production units in line with NAVTC course content and DIT guidelines /syllabus.
• Daily supervision of the VIT tutors and the other staff in the institute
• Ensure VTI employees comply with the NA policies: HR manual, code of conduct, financial procedures, maintenance etc.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and ensure effective implementation of the institution's education programs, students and staff activities within the limits set by the education authorities and Board of Governors. Develop and implement VTI's annual workplan.
• Work with tutors to develop schemes of work and lesson plans while adhering to NA (VTI) course content and DIT guidelines
• Develop monthly reports and submit to the Programs and M&E as per set reporting timelines.
• Collect and develop relevant youth's records and statistics for NA vocational centre and any other relevant information resources to build a data base for research and reference purposes.
• Manage, maintain and monitor performance of all assets and equipment of VTI,
• Be the overall accounting officer of the institution and ensure planning, budgeting and accountability of the institution's financial resources
• Establish and maintain relationships with other educational and industrial establishments.
Qualifications Skills and experience
• The applicant should preferably hold a bachelor's degree in education/vocational or Technical field.
• Possession of a postgraduate diploma in management or technical related field
• Registered with the Ministry of Education and sports or relevant body,
• Aminimum of five (Five) years working experience, three of which should have been at the level of senior officer in the field of education.
