About the role:
As the Product Manager for Numida’s mobile app you will become an expert on our small business owner partners, and be responsible for delivering a world-class app that provides access to the financial services they’re looking for. This is a high-impact role at Numida so we are looking for someone with exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a high level of empathy and drive.

The role will require you to be proactive and think independently, while leading and inspiring a team of engineers and product designers. You will create and implement. You will be responsible for understanding app data and using it to design and deliver impactful product improvement. You’ll be just as comfortable leading customer research in parts of rural Uganda as you will be presenting your latest app strategy to Senior Leadership.

As part of Numida’s Product team you will help us make bold choices and challenge our assumptions, all while building inclusive financial services that are engaging and easy to understand.
We have offices in Kampala and Nairobi, with a product and engineering team distributed between Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Canada. We’re launching additional markets and products over the next 2 years as we work to change 1 million lives across the continent.

Responsibilities:
Set the Vision
Shape the future of digital financial services for small business owners in Africa. Own the Numida mobile app roadmap and make sure every feature solves a real customer need. Stay ahead of the curve, spotting trends and technologies that could transform our business and impact.

Create the Ultimate User Experience
Immerse yourself in the world of small business owners. Use their feedback to build a mobile app that’s intuitive, fast, and suited for low-bandwidth environments. You’re the voice of the user - champion them always and make their journey seamless.

Inspire the Team
You’re the glue between Engineering, Design, Customer Experience and Marketing. Rally the team around your app vision and ensure everyone’s aligned. You’re the driving force behind all app developments, so you’ll be making sure things move forward, fast.

Use your Head and your Heart
Use data insights, alongside your instincts, to inform decisions. Track the numbers that matter: loan disbursement, repayment rates, reborrow, deposits, withdrawals. Continuously optimise based on real-time feedback and performance.

Make it Happen
Lead the way on every new mobile release. Make sure launches are smooth, and our customer’s feedback is heard. Iterate quickly - continue to optimise with each release, paying attention to positive and negative feedback.

Skills:

1.Product Management Experience
You’ve got 4+ years of experience in product management, ideally in FinTech in Africa, and are confident working with agile methodologies. You’ve been hands-on building and scaling mobile apps, preferably in emerging markets. You’re passionate about Product and excited to help mentor a growing Product team.

2.User Centric & Data Driven
You’re obsessed with understanding the customer. You know how to dig into data, conduct user research, and translate insights into actionable product improvements. Your decisions are informed by user feedback and solid analytics.

3.Familiar with Mobile and FinTech
You’ve worked on mobile applications before, especially in regions with varying mobile devices and data constraints. Highly beneficial if you’ve worked with digital lending, savings or other FinTech products in Africa and understand local financial ecosystems.

4.Cross-Functional Collaboration
You’re a natural collaborator and communicator. You know how to bring teams together to move fast and deliver results. You bridge gaps, align people, and keep everyone energised and focused on the goal.

5.Excellent Communication Skills
Whether it’s presenting to the CEO, discussing technical challenges with engineers, or rallying the team, you communicate clearly and effectively. You can turn complex ideas into simple, compelling stories that get buy-in.

6.Adaptable & Resilient
You thrive in dynamic, fast paced environments and are willing to lend a hand where it’s needed. You are solution-oriented, and when things don’t go as planned, you’re quick to pivot, learn, and try again. Challenges don’t intimidate you.

7.Passion for Impact
You’re driven to empower business owners and help them achieve their dreams. You care about creating products that solve real problems, and are looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of entrepreneurs in East Africa.
