JOB DETAILS:
OVERVIEW

The Program Officer – USAID/BHA will work closely with the Field Technical Coordinator to ensure the project implementation of field livelihood activities, mainly focusing upon youth and women group capacity development in Palabek settlement. S/he will build the capacity of the participants through trainings and mentorships. S/he will work closely with consortium partners and other actors in actively addressing youth & women skills development, processing and marketing issues. The Project Officer will also work closely with leadership structures of both refugees and host communities (Sub County Agricultural Officers, Community Development Officers, LC, RWC) in regard to livelihoods. S/he will be directly involved in the implementation of project activities within Lamwo. S/he will support and supervise Community Based Facilitators.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Community engagement
• Monitor and Support community-based facilitators to mobilize communities through community action cycle (CAC) and roll out of Life Skills for Success.
• Support and supervise Community Based Facilitators.

Stakeholders Engagement, Networking and Collaboration
• Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other fora.
• Facilitate coordination of partners work at community level in implementation of agreed action plans.
• Engagement with key stakeholders for influence, learning and resource development.
• Actively represent Save the Children in field level inter-agency for a in the absence of the FTCs.
• Engage and build relationships with key partners and government counterparts.
• Network & collaborate with District Local Government, OPM, UNHCR and other relevant stakeholders in the project area.

Documentation, Reporting and knowledge management
• Writes and submits comprehensive monthly progress reports, specific activity reports, and any other reports when necessary to his/her supervisor in a timely manner.
• Take lead in field documentation and sharing of best practices to promote learning.
• Organize quarterly review meetings for communities at project sites to reflect on project approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning
• Prepare high quality reports, both narrative and quantitative information and reporting on relevant indicators and outcomes.
• Take lead in documentation and sharing of Impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning.
To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:
• At least a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agri-economics, Agriculture, Forestry, Development Studies or any other relevant discipline.
• At least two years’ experience working with vulnerable communities and familiarity with humanitarian programming and implementation; experience in community mobilization.
• Experience in community work and engagement in Agricultural, Economic Development and Livelihood is and added advantage.
• Climate Smart Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, micro finance and strong agribusiness skills
• Track record demonstrating high performance, integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable.
• Team player, Self-motivator, able to work with limited supervision.
• Effective in written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s) within Palabek, Lamwo district.
• Commitment to Save the Children values.
