JOB DETAILS:
Job purpose
In line with GCR & CRRF Resilience & Self-reliance pillar, the Livelihoods officer will be responsible for coordinating effective mainstreaming of sustainable livelihoods interventions in Uganda’s refugee response for both host and refugee communities.

Key accountabilities
Take stock of and profile livelihoods and resilience actors at National, Sector, District, and settlement levels of Uganda’s refugee response.
• Maintain constructive working relationships in the Humanitarian-Development –Peace nexus for sustainable livelihoods and resilience interventions in refugee response.
• Support lead Ministries and other agencies in the design, implementation and evaluation of National, Sector and sub-national livelihoods programmes.
• Work with Department of refugees in the Office of the Prime Minister, and other partners to ensure that livelihood interventions and their respective deliverables and outcomes are routinely captured and updated in the National Refugee Response Management System (URRMS) and other knowledge management systems.
• Coordinate the various stakeholders to participate in monthly Livelihood Sector Working Group (LSWG) forums to ensure inter-sector knowledge exchanges and complementarities.
• Ensure effective participation of livelihoods and resilience sector partners in inter-sector refugee response dialogues that ensure synchronized planning, knowledge exchange and horizontal solutions to implementation of the various refugee response plans.
• Support dissemination and adoption of JLIRP to the various refugee hosting districts and livelihoods programmes.
• Collaborate with government agencies to guide and support research studies related to livelihoods and resilience sector for refugee response.
• Conduct sector- wide data and specific information analysis for CRRF reporting on local economy for respective refugee hosting districts.
• Support the generation of knowledge, documentation of experiences and lessons learned on successful approaches/models as well as dissemination to the various actors in refugee response.
• Coordinate engagement of the private sector and market-based solutions in refugee response programming.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor(s).

Standard minimum qualifications
Education:
A Master’s degree in Economics, Business studies, Development Studies, or relevant Social Science field
Experience:
At least 5 years of field experience in country in the design and implementation of Sustainable livelihoods programmes is required. The individual should have updated contemporary development knowledge and extensive working experience in the understanding of Humanitarian + Development and Peace Nexus, Sustainable Development, Livelihoods Approaches and its links to Conservation and Natural Resource Management. Experience in capacity building, strategic planning, communication, documentation of lesson learned and best practices, as well as monitoring and evaluation is required. Prior experience of working with field based, diverse ethnics, cultures is desirable.

Skills and Abilities:
Candidate should have excellent communication skills that include report writing, presentation, documentation, consultation and facilitation in English language. The position requires knowledge of data storage and analysis, computer programs like MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point.
Language: Proficiency in English Language and proficiency in local language(s) widely used by beneficiaries in West Nile
