World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in 43 districts and have 48 Area Programmes implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & resilience, education and child protection. World Vision (WV) is committed to the protection of children and adult beneficiaries from exploitation and abuse and will not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with these beneficiaries. All employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks, including criminal record checks where possible.
Due to expansion in scope of our programmes, we are now seeking for a qualified and passionate individual willing to share in our vision and join the team in the following role.


Purpose of the position:
The Project Assistant -Child Protection will provide grass roots project implementation, monitoring and documentation and participation in line with Child Protection global standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for the smooth, cost effective, efficient and timely implementation of Child Protection activities particularly; case management, monitoring and supervision of Child Protection Community Volunteers. The incumbent will also be responsible for documenting Child Protection needs within the area of allocation.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.
Case Management

1. Conduct BIP for high-priority cases (BIA, BIDs, case planning and implementation, case closures)
2. Ensure 100% utilization of ProGres version 4. (BIAs, BID, Interventions, & closure)
3. Support referrals of high priority cases
4. Coordinate and facilitate family tracing and reunification (FTR)
5. Initiate, plan and present cases during the case conferences
6. Provision of Case-by-case to high-priority cases.
7. Facilitate cases for specialized services
8. Filing case management tools
9. Ensure community structures have the required case management tools like monitoring forms, low priority log books and referrals
10. Respond to emerging cases raised through FRRM and World Vision toll free line
11. Effective project implementation
12. Prepare concepts notes, and submit them within the agreed timeframes.
13. Develop work plans for activity implementation
14. Prepare and submit monthly payment requisitions for Community structures’ stipends within the first week of every new month with all required attachments
15. Prepare and submit all payment requisitions for activities conducted within 3 days from the last day of an activity.
16. Prepare and file accountability documents (attendance lists, acknowledgement forms and reports)
17. Provide technical oversight to community-based child protection and education systems, children groups and stake holders in advocating for child protection, participation
18. Capacity Building and System strengthening
19. Train community structures on child protection, BIP, CP minimum standards, peace building activities, PSS, PSEA and safe guarding
20. Conduct annual alternative background check for community structures
21. Build capacities and mentor community structures on World Vision Models (CoH, MAGS, EWV, CVA
22. Organize and conduct monthly meetings with community structures (CPCs, RWCs, MAGS, CHATS, Parents, volunteers) and children on child protection, positive parenting and child participation
23. Facilitate advocacy forums led by children on issues affecting them. The forums are aimed at awareness creation and sensitization of communities
24. Coordinate with the community structures to ensureeffective implementation of activities
25. Reporting, Documentation, and Accountability
26. Develop weekly and activity reports, and submit them to project officers and M and E
27. Identify potential impact stories for documentation and informs the project officer
28. Collect feedback from the beneficiaries and community structures and submit to the project officer and M and E
29. Update asset register for community assets

CFS/ECD management

1. Provide mentorship and capacity building for CMCs to ensure ownership and sustainability of the centres
2. Supervise CFS implementation as per the agreed minimum standards in emergency
3. Provide support supervision to the CMCs
4. Ensure caregivers are trained on ECD framework, peace road curriculum and CFS catalogue
5. Ensure compliance of safeguarding policy in the CFS and ECD centers
6. Facilitate the process of CFS transition to the community

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.
1. High school Diploma, Community Development, Adult and Community Education, Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Works and Social Administration, Education, Psychology.
2. A minimum of (3) three or more years of field experience working with communities in child protection and program management in an NGO context.
3. Past exposure and experience with integrated Child Protection and operations in humanitarian context.

4. Past experience in working with communities
5. Excellent analytical, documentation, problem solving, interpersonal ad negotiation skills
6. Working knowledge of humanitarian industry including sphere standards, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter
7. Very strong communication skills
8. Ability to ride a motorcycle.
9. Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs to develop and maintain positive relationships
10. Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible world view, emotional maturity and physical stamina
11. Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychological stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
12. Ability to cope and deal with stress and work under stressful work conditions is required
13. Commitment to World Vision Core Values and Vision Statement
14. Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context
