JOB DETAILS:

Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the project officer, the project assistant is responsible for the day-to-day psychological support of beneficiaries as well as providing specialized counseling, and support to GBV cases

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation.
• Liaise with and work in cooperation with the relevant local authorities, community leaders, and nongovernmental organizations, collaborating/implementing partners and other stakeholders where appropriate to achieve the project objectives and facilitate project implementation.
• Collect and tabulate regularly field data on project activities carried out conduct other assessments using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impacts of the project.
• Regularly visit all the beneficiary sites where all project activities are undertaken, check on the progress, and offer support as directed by the project officer in line with the project objectives.
• Support the various psychosocial support activities in the settlement.
• Promote case management for persons with psychosocial problems, refer and follow up on the reception services, and coordinate, consult, and, collaborate with other service providers.
• Lead outreach activities and assist in the organizing and implementation of training and workshops.
• Liaise with household members and other community leaders regularly to keep them informed of any development or problems within the settlements and surrounding areas.
• Supervise and support community participation in refugee settlements and at all the sub-county levels for the effective implementation and coordination of psychosocial activities.
• Promote active community participation in specified project activities by involving beneficiaries, intermediaries, and local leaders in the planning and implementation process.

Project Planning.
• Train and mentor LWF community-based facilitators and community counselors in organizational policies, and recreational and psychosocial activities implemented within the refugee settlement.
• Assist the project officer in preparing periodical work plans, case follow-ups, and reports on psychosocial activities and achievements in line with the requirements stipulated in the project documents.

Financial management / Budget Monitoring & Control.
• Ensure proper supporting documents (attendance lists (with all the necessary information filled.) end of activity reports.
• Ensure timely accountability and closely follows up with field payments.

Project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting.
• Work closely with the M&E team to monitor project performance and ensure an appropriate level of accountability.
• Ensure that proper mapping of the right beneficiaries is done & information shared on time

Other.
• Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor
• Ensure strict adherence to the principles of child protection/psychosocial support at all times including respect for confidentiality and a child-centered approach, and acts in the best interests of the persons of concern.
• Commitments to and understanding of LWF aims, values, and principles including a rights-based approach.
• Ensure that organization assets are maintained and taken good care of.

Education, Qualifications & Experience Required.
• University Degree in community psychology, industrial and organizational psychology Social Work, Social Sciences, Human rights, and ethics Development studies or another relevant field of study; At least 1-year experience in Project Management/Community Development programming; Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilization projects.

Special Skills, Aptitude or Personality Requirements:
• Problem Solving and Decision-Making skills; Ability to inspire and build capacity of community-based facilitators/community structures; Good interpersonal skills and excellent negotiation skills; Excellent English Language (both written and spoken); Information Technology (MS Office, Internet); Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines; Good team worker with good communication skills; Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently.
