JOB DETAILS:
IDEO.org is a global nonprofit design studio that aims to create positive impact through design. Through human-centered design, IDEO.org partners with organizations and communities to design products and services that improve the lives of poor and vulnerable communities.
We’re a tight-knit group of designers, strategists, builders, writers, and connectors fueled by curiosity, optimism, and a passion for social change. In this current moment and as a response to COVID-19 challenges, we are excited to work with adolescent girls and young women, and the organizations that serve them, to address challenges specific to their sexual reproductive health (SRH).
Project background:
Project Kipepeo is a project that runs under the Billion Girls Co-Lab at IDEO.org. The Billion Girls Co-Lab is a platform where girls imagine their futures and direct a network of actors to bring those visions to life by involving them more in the process. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and when we reported the first case in East Africa, one of the major concerns has been the disruption in access to sexual reproductive health products and services and how this would affect the teen pregnancy rates. With the continued spread of the virus and a burdened public health care system, it is even more critical now that we support adolescent girls and youth to access sexual reproductive health resources.
We took a look at how we had been designing before, and even though we incorporate the end user feedback within the design process, we acknowledge that this cohort needs to be closer to the problem identification, brief writing, design process, prototype testing and selection of the final product and service that they will eventually use.
What to expect:
Imagine if you could influence and change the way your peers access and interact with information that helps them make better informed decisions on their sexual reproductive health.
You know your community well. Imagine playing a role that enables you to co-design how girls and women access reproductive health products and services.
Do you have a phone, does your best friend have a phone?
What if you could only access reproductive health information, products and services through a phone?
Would this be possible for every adolescent girl in your community?
We believe you have ideas and valid opinions on how we can use technology without leaving anyone out and still maintain privacy.
Funding is an integral part of the longevity of programs in this sector. We would like you to be a voice in this community that guides and advises on the particular area and responsive nature of how funds are spent.
In this fellowship, you will be selected to be the youth fellow within your community to help drive this vision forward..
