JOB DETAILS:
Children’s Chance International (CCI-Uganda) is a non-profit making organization operating in Uganda with the head office based in Lira, Northern Uganda. The organization is registered with the National NGO Registration Bureau with Registration No 4296. It was started in April 2008 to serve humanity and out of passion for the plight of the suffering people orphans and other vulnerable children, youth, women, and other disadvantaged people such as persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the post-conflict region of Northern Uganda. To realize the vision, the organization works through providing livelihood support, Agricultural development, maternal health and child nutrition, HIV/AIDS and Malaria, WASH services, Sexual reproductive health, Economic strengthening, Violence prevention, and the provision of educational opportunities as a means to mitigate the impacts of conflicts, poverty, and Health-related challenges. CCI has been mandated to operate nationally though currently working in Lango and part of Acholi Sub regions.
CCI Uganda has secured funding for a Community Empowerment Project that will be implemented in Lira District for a period of 3 years. The goal of the project is “to build sustainable livelihoods, improve health, and enhance access to education for households” in the targeted sub-counties.

JOB SUMMARY.
CCI-Uganda is looking for highly motivated individuals to support the implementation of the Community Empowerment Project (CEP) under the livelihood program that is aimed at building sustainable livelihoods, improving health, and enhancing access to education for poor households in Lira District. The purpose of the job holder is to manage the CEP with the overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management and delivery of the project through annual planning, budgeting, reporting, managing field officers, and day-to-day project operations consistent with project cycle management and the project’s goal and to the highest standards of programmatic quality.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks among others.
Project Management
• Lead, manage, and coordinate day-to-day planning, implementation, and management of project activities according to the project document and project log frame.
• Establish and maintain relationships with donors, peer organizations, research, and technical lead partners within CCI.
• Oversee the implementation of farming activities for smallholder farmers including land preparation, planting, growth monitoring, pest and disease management, harvesting, and managing the post-harvest processes and market linkage.
• Develop and implement project plans with project staff, Executive Director, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
• Provide technical support and guidance on Livelihoods, Nutrition, WASH, and other technical issues embedded in the project.
• Ensure that research studies envisaged by the project are designed, planned, and conducted to the highest standards. e.g. baseline, end line.
• Ensure that the project adopts best practices in integrated rural development, agricultural marketing, and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and takes up recommendations to ensure that lessons learned within the project are properly recorded and shared.
• Ensure monitoring and evaluation systems and tools that are developed are used by project staff to track project progress and capture learning as well as during the stakeholder reflection meetings.
• Ensure project compliance with all legal and donor requirements. Ensure that the donor guidelines are adhered to particularly regarding grant acknowledgement and reporting.
• Provide regular reporting to the Executive Director/donor as per the guidelines including preparation and consolidation of project weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Monitor the context and carry out adjustments to project plans and management on an ongoing basis considering changing context, resources, and opportunities.
• Monitor project expenditure against budget and prepare and submit the required project financial reports regularly in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships within and outside CCI Uganda including with the MDAs, project partners, INGOs, local organizations, private organizations, research organizations, community leaders, and relevant networks working in the community and including those working within the wider agriculture, health and education sector.
HR management
• Manage and supervise the work of the Agricultural officer, Health officer, and any other staff assigned.
• Ensure team and individual work plans are prepared and followed.
• Support the team in preparing their annual performance objectives.
• Undertake performance objective reviews and appraisals of the officers assigned.
Resource mobilization
• Support the Executive Director in the business acquisition.
Logistics/Procurement/Assets Management
• Ensure efficient use and management of transport and other project resources.
• Work with the procurement team in the procurement processes of project inputs through outlined procurement procedures.
• Ensure that project implementation meets donor compliance requirements.
• Establish knowledge gaps and specific learning needs of project staff (Field officers) and coordinate staff capacity building for effective project implementation.
Networking
• Promotion of the organization’s positive image through collaboration and networking in the most effective manner.
• Ensure appropriate and continued coordination and joint planning with other relevant projects, host-government initiatives, and private-sector engagement.
• Facilitate active networking with local and national NGOs, MDAs, and private organizations implementing similar project activities working in the project intervention area, for continued learning and sharing of experiences and best practices.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
The interested person should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, International Development, Public Health, or any other related field from a reputable Institution with a PGD in Project Planning and Management. Also,
• A minimum of 5 (five) years of relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role with progressive responsibilities, ideally with an NGO, with a minimum of three years working for programming interventions in Strategic Learning.
• A highly motivated and experienced professional with a passion for Science and Biotech. An excellent communicator and problem solver, adept at developing and implementing successful strategies for sustainable livelihood programs.
• Fluent in English and any other relevant local language preferably Luo.
• Strong analytical orientation and sound judgment.
• Reactiveness, resourcefulness, punctuality and responsibility.
• Exceptional active listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, facilitation, and training applying adult learning principles and practices.
• Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, and knowledge-sharing networks.
• Able to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing working conditions and environment.
• Strong research, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to ride a motorcycle. (Class A driver’s permit is a necessity).
• Very good teamwork, openness, patience, and respect for target groups, and divergent options.
• Good Time management.
• Candidates with proof of having worked with FFS and seeds multiplication projects have an added advantage.
• Excellent proposal development skills.
• High understanding of project cycle management.
• Good knowledge and understanding of key aspects of development work; including food, nutrition, and livelihood security, agricultural marketing and value chains analysis methodologies, natural resources management and environmental resilience planning, cross-cutting themes (e.g. gender, HIV/Aids), and integration of disaster mitigation and climate change response in development programming.
• High level of integrity and high standards of personal conduct.
