ChildFund Uganda is working in over 30 districts to develop the capacities of local community based organizations to be able to mobilize resources and implement programs that improve the wellbeing of deprived, excluded and vulnerable children.

ChildFund Uganda seeks to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven and result-oriented candidate for the following position:

JOB: PROJECT OFFICER, COMMUNITY LED CHILD
PROTECTION PROJECT
REPORTS TO: PROJECT MANAGER
LOCATION: KITGUM AGAGO

JOB SUMMARY:
To support the implementation of project activities on prevention and response to Violence Against Children in Kitgum and Agago district in close collaboration with the LP, district leaders, School authorities, Civil Society Organizations, lnternational partners and Law Enforcement Authorities and other service providers.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares both weekly and monthly work plans and budgets and submits them to the project manager for review.
Follows up the approved plans to ensure the set objectives are met.
Provides guidance to Area team and Federation on issues concerning child protection project implementation.
Provides technical support to project community volunteers who are involved in the project implementation.
Work with the media both print and electronic to ensure that issues of violence against children are highlighted in the media.
Document on regular basis project significant stories of change and share with the donor.
Readily represents ChildFund in relevant for a and seminars on matters of child protection project interventions.
Undertake regular visits to schools, communities and other service providers for purposes of monitoring & evaluating actual implementing of activities.
Organizes stakeholder quarterly reviews to reflect on project implementation processes and propose realignments here and there.
Provide Regular support to the relevant Child Protection project structures ie Child rights clubs, Youth groups, Women groups, Community groups to ensure their functionality.
Work with relevant actors to ensure that survivors of child abuse gel immediate and timely psychosocial, medical and legal services.
Consults / collaborate at district level with other stakeholders on matters of support in relation to the Community led Child Protection project.
Disseminates updates on the Community led Child Protection (CCP) project to the district and sub-county stakeholders in order to make them aware of the progress of the project.
Performs any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, or Development Studies, or Project Management and a Post-graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management.
Possession of computer skills is necessary.
A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in a similar position in a development organization.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a rural setting is an advantage.
Experience in Child Protection and community based Child protection Mechanism.
Previous certificate level training in Child Protection is an added advantage.
Motorcycle riding skill is required.
Excellent administrative, communications, negotiation and decision making skills.
Knowledge of Luo is an added advantage with experience working with children and care givers.
Strong organizational, inter-personal, communication and report writing skills
