JOB DETAILS:
Purpose:
Under the direction and supervision of the Program Coordinator, the projects coordinator will manage Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (PMER) processes with the assigned MCC supported food-security and livelihood projects. The project coordinator will primarily relate with partner organization implementing food security and livelihood projects but may be required to assist with other projects as needs may arise.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Assess current capacity of local partners and offer planning, monitoring, evaluation & reporting (PMER) support.
2. Contribute to capacity strengthening initiatives in food security and livelihoods programming for staff and partner through helping develop learning and training strategies and agendas/curriculums, conducting trainings and workshops, and mentoring and coaching to partner staff.
3. Ensuring the reporting process and partner project documents capture progress, and that sufficient detail is provided on activities, adjustments, effectiveness and impact. Monitor deadlines to ensure that reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
4. Keep abreast of the changing trends in food security and livelihood interventions, especially in the settlement areas.
5. Provide guidance to the external grant writing team by researching and collecting the needed information with evidence that can be used to pursue external grant proposals for MCC Uganda partners.
6. Review and provide guidance to partners with project proposals development as well as project-related data collection and analysis.
7. Consult with teams and technically lead and guide new project design as it relates to food security, livelihoods, and trauma healing in the settlement areas.
8. Cultivate and maintain relationships with MCC partners through regular phone calls, video calls, messaging and/or in-person meetings (as possible)
9. Visit partner organizations and their projects to build relationships, learn about the local context of MCC partners – names and stories, and monitor and understand their work.
10. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PMER principles and practices.
11. Attend MER webinars and meetings as called for by the PLDR department.
12. Work with Program coordinator and program staff to evaluate and strengthen partner projects.
13. Attend a local church, MCC meetings and events as appropriate, including devotional and prayer time led by staff.
14. Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in development or environmental studies, agriculture, climate change adaptation, project management, or a related field preferred
• Experience with project monitoring and evaluation, including applying data collection tools and methodologies, data analysis, and data management and presentation.
• Experience in project design and proposal development in climate change adaptation and livelihoods, including technical writing.
• Knowledge and interest in Peacebuilding and Trauma healing would be an asset (training and experience preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills along with ability to build relationships with MCC partners.
• Work experience in NGO or church-based ministry and with uprooted and marginalized populations
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, facilitation and training applying adult learning principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Attention to detail, ability to organize work in a methodical way.
• Discreet, detail and client-oriented and willingness to learn new things.
• Having a strong organizational and communication skills
• Having the right to work and live in Uganda.
