DCE is a study that will be implemented by the University of Arizona in collaboration with the Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) as the host institution, It will focus on recruiting people in communities perceived to be at increased risk of HIV acquisition, as well as people working with populations who are at increased risk of HIV acquisition. Recently, new technologies have been advanced in the arena of vaccine development, thus indicating possibility of an efficacious preventative HIV vaccine in the near future. DCE team therefore seeks to fill the following position;
Key roles & Responsibilities
• Participate in research study trainings and take part in the fine tuning of the research study tools.
• Participate in the community mobilization and sensitization on the DCE research study.
• Work with the team leader and other staff to contact study participants, screen and schedule interviews with them.
• Confirm that the necessary research instruments and logistics required for the study are available, prepared, taken to the field and securely kept.
• Adhere to the international ethical procedures of conducting research involving humans.
• Administer the informed consent to the research study participants.
• Collect and handle data using appropriate and ethically sound research techniques in accordance with the study protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure quality timely transcription of data.
• Work with the team leader during spot checks of interview implementation, discuss and implement timely positive comments and feedback.
• Maintain regular contacts with the team leader and hand over completed transcripts and other appropriate forms and logistics before full payment.
• Bring to the attention of the team leader any challenges encountered in the field, discuss and implement the appropriate solution(s).
• Attend short regular biweekly meetings with research team members through data collection and possibly other related tasks as the need arises
Education, knowledge and skills
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in humanities and health related discipline
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in qualitative data collection
• Fluent in English and Luganda
• Training in qualitative methods
