About the JCRC USAID/LPHS- Kigezi & Lango:
USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Kigezi & Lango is a five-year Activity implemented by Joint Clinical
Research Centre (JCRC) as a transition mechanism from USAID RHITES SW and USAID RHITES-N,
Lango to continue implementation of service delivery activities (HIV & TB) in Ankole and Kigezi as well as
Lango regions.
JOB PURPOSE:
This position will provide technical support for CQI activities for Kigezi Region to ensure integration of
quality improvement in health care. The advisor will strengthen and monitor the implementation of
systems and strategies for managing quality improvement initiatives impacting core clinical processes and
critical patient care functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop annual CQI workplans and budgets.
• Work collaboratively with the different TAs/Specialists to develop and timely submit mentorship
• and coaching concepts.
• Coordinate with UHA and MOH to ensure national and donor QI collaborative activities are implemented in the region.
• Work with the TAs/Specialists to conduct EQAs (VMMC, Lab) to improve quality of services and
• certification of sites.
• Work collaboratively with the database manager to review, analyze and share CQI data populated
• in the Activity CQI database.
• Routinely review, analyze and share merged audit tools to guide focus areas to improve project
• performance.
• Coordinate, merge and synthesize data from RCAs and develop action plans.
• Build the capacity of the program team, DHTs and sites for the implementation of quality
• improvement interventions through training, CPDs, mentorship and coaching.
• Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly program performance review meetings & provide
• technical guidance on change packages to improve lagging indicators.
• Represent the USAID LPHS Kigezi region at National and Regional CQI Technical Working
• Groups to deliver high quality & impactful presentations as required on behalf of the region and
• provide constructive feedback to the program team.
• Contribute to the body of knowledge through collaboratively working with the Knowledge
• Management Advisor in documentation of lessons learnt, success stories, abstracts and best
• practices.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Bachelor of surgery, Nursing. A medical related Master’s degree
• is an added advantage.
• Experience in comprehensive HIV/AIDS/TB care and support services.
• At least seven (7) years working experience as a medical personnel, with four (4) years program of
• experience managing QI initiatives, in a reputable Organization.
• Good knowledge of project planning management principles, donor guidelines, coupled with strong
• understanding of HIV interventions using quality improvement approaches.
• Competence to build the capacity of health workers in HIV/AIDS programming and quality
• improvement.
