Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor specializing in Water Irrigation Projects to join our team. As the Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our water irrigation projects, including cost estimation, cost control, and contract administration. Your expertise in quantity surveying and knowledge of water irrigation systems will contribute to the successful delivery of the projects.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for water irrigation projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related costs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to assess project viability and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
• Evaluate and negotiate contracts, including tender documentation, terms, and conditions, ensuring compliance with regulations and project requirements.
• Monitor project costs and expenditures, regularly reviewing and reporting on budget variances and recommending cost-saving measures.
• Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and architects to assess and value construction progress, including interim and final valuations.
• Prepare and analyze cost reports, including cash flow projections, cost forecasts, and final accounts, and present them to senior management and clients.
• Manage change orders and variations, assessing their impact on project costs and providing recommendations for approval or negotiation.
• Assist in conducting risk assessments and identifying potential cost risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
• Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve any financial or contractual issues that may arise during the project.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in quantity surveying or cost management roles.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares) as a Quantity Surveyor in the past 5 years.

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
• Proficiency in cost estimation, cost control, and contract administration.
• Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes, particularly in relation to water irrigation systems.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations and financial analysis.
• Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools, as well as spreadsheet and database applications.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Strong negotiation and contract management abilities, with the capacity to review and analyze contractual documentation.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice in quantity surveying and construction.
• Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to work effectively within a project team.
