War Child Holland (WCH) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. WCH works in 14 Countries in the World to improve the resilience and well-being of children, delivering vital Child Protection, Education and Psychosocial Support interventions. War Child Holland has been operating in Uganda since 2004 in West Nile and South Western Uganda.
War Child is looking for a hardworking, dynamic and enthusiastic person to fill the position below;
Title: Regional Business Development Specialist (1 Position)
Duty Station: Kampala - Uganda
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: TBD
Reports to: Regional Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Advisor (AFRICA region)
Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
The purpose for this role is to move the organization closer to its fundraising/financial goals by spotting fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors and other stakeholders (iNGOs,
NNGOS/LNGOS, UN Agencies) as well as writing/drafting proposals in the Africa Region. Under the
leadership of the Partnerships and Fundraising Advisor, the role will support capacity development of
country teams in fundraising efforts and strategies, partnership development and retention as well as
grants administration.
Major Roles and Responsibilities;
• Fundraising and Visibility
• Documentation, Communication, and Information Management
• Partnership Management Support and Grants Management
Qualifications, Skills and Competence required;
• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree, MA or MBA will have an added advantage.
• At least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing in the East African
• Region preferred.
• Sound knowledge of grant management approaches and donor compliance, having
• experience of managing grants from institutional donors such as EU and UN agencies
• Experience in developing and in the use of project management tools including Logical
• Frameworks, Theory of Change models, Budgets, Activity Plans and Monitoring & Evaluation
• Sound knowledge and experience in working with local partners.
• Experience in report writing and working remotely.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Passion for research
• Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events.
• Ability to work in different context.
• Working knowledge of French/Arabic is desirable.
• Problem solving skills, able to deal independently with field work related issues.
• Strong computer, report writing and documentation skills
