POSITION: Regional Programs Coordinator
Reports to: Regional Programs Manager

Job Summary:
The Regional Programs Coordinator (RPC) is a management position based at UHMG regional office and exists to provide leadership, support and overall coordination of all UHMG? work in the region. The RPC is the key UHMG representative and linkage to the region. The RPC reports directly to the Regional Programs Manager for day-to—day management and relates to other technical managers and senior advisors for technical support. S/he assumes overall management of UHMG‘s regional issues, including day-to-day administrative supervision, coordination, and provision of ongoing mentoring of all UHMG staff in the Region (Finance and Administration Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Sales Officer, Sales Assistant, Social Behavior Change Communication Officer, Clinical and Quality Assurance Officer, Supervising Pharmacist, Logistics Assistants, Office Attendant, ‘ and Warehouse Assistant), and the harmonization and coordination of the UHMG regional work plans, oversight of UHMG's regional budgets, management of UHMG finances, and management of programme assets in the region.

The RPC should have the capacity to work under minimum supervision, and maintain a clean and transparent regional coordination system while adhering to set procedures. S/he should be detail- and results-oriented, have strong conceptual, analytical, and reporting skills, with expertise in information gathering, analysis and timely reporting, be proactive in instituting innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective interventions, and work dedicatedly to fulfill the organizations goals, while upholding the Core Values of UHMG.

Primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Provide direction and leadership to the multi-skilled UHMG regional team to ensure effective program delivery of all service delivery, sales and distribution aspects of UHMGs programs, and timely and accurate reporting of results.
  •  Facilitate the planning and budgeting process for the region in liaison. With the Regional Program Manager. Act as the liaison person between the head office and the regional office.
  • Design strategies and guide implementation of community component of service delivery in Good Life Clinics and sub grantees in Family Planning, HIV, Malaria, Maternal Child Health, and Nutrition in the region, while coordinating closely with the District Health teams.
  • Ensure that the technical staff in the region provide adequate, quality and timely support, and effectively coordinate technical assistance to all UHMG-supported sites and partners in the region.
  • integrate social marketing activities to ensure access and utilization of affordable health products and services in the region.
  •  Ensure the UHMG program's M&E requirements are met in the region by working closely with the M&E Officer and technical staff based in the region to monitor, track progress of activities, and review performance on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis with GLCs, sub-grantees and distributors.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, Population Studies, Business Administration, any other related Medical and Social Sciences field. A Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Post graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management is essential.
  •  At least 3 years’ relevant experiences working in program/project management and coordination in a donor environment. Experience working with USAID programs will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a multi-skilled regional team and monitoring their performance, working with regional stakeholders, networking with key partners, and being the liaison with the tread office,
  •  Highly developed coordination skills with a focus on engaging local communities, bringing together private sector health partners, district local governments, non-governmental partners focusing on health is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of overall administrative requirements, developing strategic plans and budgeting, and fiscal management is required.
  •  A motivated, focused, disciplined professional, with the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing deadlines, and possess the ability to make an immediate impact.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and result-oriented skills, and experience in managing objectives with the customer in mind, and provide timely and quality reports.
  •  Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility, tactful, ability to plan, organize and measure outcomes of interventions.
