Overview
Our Client Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited (CiplaQCIL) is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in East Africa and one of the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). CiplaQCIL is a World Health Organization (WHO) cGMP compliant facility that manufactures a range of WHO pre-qualified medicines for treating HIV/AIDS and malaria. The company manufactures antiretrovirals, artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) and, Hepatitis medicines, to treat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Hepatitis respectively. CiplaQCIL is seeking to recruit a dynamic, confident, experienced and professionally competent self-motivated individual, to fill the position of Regional Sales-Head.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Regional Sales-Head will devise and manage strategies and techniques for achieving consistent and profitable growth of the sale of the Company’s various pharmaceutical products as well as continuously developing and generating new opportunities for the Company within the East African region.
Duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for the sales, marketing, and promotional activities of the Company’s pharmaceutical products in the east African region in order to achieve the Company’s sales target.
• Providing leadership as well as oversight to the sales function effectively for all the countries assigned within the EAC region to achieve the desired sales targets, volumes, and profitability.
• Developing the overall sales plans and strategy of the Company’s regional sales team, hiring, training, monitoring as well as appraising the performance of the team to ensure that they have sufficient medical and technical information about the Company’s products; and rewarding and motivating them appropriately in order to achieve the Company’s sales targets on time.
• Establish effective sales performance reporting, demand forecasting, streamlining processes and systems wherever possible, advising senior management on existing as well as new businesses opportunities in the EAC region, as well as managing customer and client relationships.
• Advise management on pricing, marketing, and sales strategies in the different countries within the EAC region both on individual customers as well as on the overall customer base within each region to drive and grow the sale of the Company’s products.
• Monitor stocking levels as well as stock movements in all the regions on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis in order to avoid stock out situations as well as high inventory levels
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelors’ Degree in Management, Communication, Marketing or any other relate field.
• A Master’s Degree in Finance or MBA is also highly desirable.
• Professional Qualification such as CIM will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a sales and marketing role with regional responsibilities, preferably within a manufacturing, FMCH or Pharmaceutical industry, of which at least five (5) years must be in a Senior Leadership Sales and Marketing role.
• Experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, bid management and institutional sales.
• In depth understanding of regulatory norms pertaining to pharmaceutical industry products, such as product registration, market authorization, intellectual property registration, etc.
• Experience in working with and managing relationships with public as well as private health institutions responsible for the procurement, distribution, and storage of medical supplies to both public and private medical services providers in the EAC region.
• Ability to think strategically, but with a hands-on pragmatic approach to the implementation and execution of strategy.
• An enthusiastic team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong collaborative relationships both internally and externally
