JOB DETAILS:
POSITION: Research Assistant
Short term contract
Reports to Study PIs

Background
The school of Public Health with support from the Wellcome Trust is conducting a study on reimagining malaria control in terms of shared planetary resources and spaces. This research explores the boundaries of consciousness that inform and shape malaria control interventions and policies. In order to facilitate this process, services of a research assistant are sought to support the principal investigator in collecting field data and conducting critical reviews of malarial studies and regulatory instruments.

Summary of responsibilities
• Participate in study planning and implementation meetings
• Requisition for equipment, logistics and supplies necessary for field operations Plan, implement, and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of the research protocol
• Participate in the field data collection, review of malarial studies and other relevant documents
• Reside in the districts of study implementation
• Work hand in hand with community and district leadership in the area of study implementation.
• Conduct field ethnographic interviews, observations and Focus Group Discussions Transcribe field audio recordings
• Participate in weekly debriefs,
• Write field reports and submit to PIs
• Any other duties assigned by the PI

As part of the capacity building, the holder of the position will undergo rigorous training in new ways of conceiving and investigating malaria in the image of shared planetray boundaries.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
• Willingness to work and stay in Busoga, particularly in the districts of Buyende, Kaliro and Namutumba for an extended period of time.
• At least 3 years of field experience in conducting qualitative research in health issues.
• A masters training in Public health, Sociology, Anthropology or its equivalent. Knowledge of current malaria control strategies, responses and debates
• Fluent in Lusoga Language.
• A resident of east-central region (Busoga) is preferred.
• Aged between 25 — 35 years (the study involves constant movements). Women are encouraged to apply.
