JOB DETAILS:
Overall Purpose of the Job: The Agriculture SHE Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and environmental protection within the company's agricultural operations. Their main objective is to ensure compliance with safety, occupational health, and environmental guidelines, creating a safe working environment and preventing accidents or injuries.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies and programs.
2. Provide advice and leadership to employees on safety-related topics.
3. Develop and deliver regular educational and training sessions on SHE topics.
4. Review and update existing policies and procedures.
5. Collaborate with HR to establish a new employee onboarding process for safety, health, and environment.
6. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
7. Enforce preventative measures and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
8. Prepare and present reports on accidents, violations, and their causes.
9. Oversee workplace repairs, installations, and any activities that could pose risks to employee safety.
10. Coordinate the department's emergency procedures and serve as the on-site emergency coordinator.
11. Inspect workplaces and equipment to ensure compliance with storage and safety regulations and identify hazards.
12. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) according to regulations.
13. Implement measures to prevent environmental degradation and ensure conservation practices.
14. Establish and comply with waste management and disposal procedures.
15. Maintain a chemical register for all products used on-site and ensure compliance with pesticide regulations.
16. Properly dispose of expired chemicals and empty containers.
17. Assist in the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries.

Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: Education:
• BSc/BA in Agriculture or Safety/Environmental Management or a related field.

Experience, Skills, and Competences:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a SHE Officer, with at least 2 years in an agricultural or similar environment.
• Certificate or Diploma in occupational health and safety would be an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of legislations and procedures related to safety, health, and environment.
• Familiarity with potentially hazardous materials and practices.
• Experience in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in MS Office and working knowledge of safety management information systems.
• Outstanding organizational skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
