JOB DETAILS:
Safeguarding and Child Protection in Emergency Specialist

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.
Safeguarding:
• The Specialist is responsible for overall implementation of the Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy and will specifically do the following tasks:
• Lead on and ensure effective implementation of WV-Uganda’s Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy across development and emergence response programs and entire National Office.
• Provide periodic updates on the status of safeguarding cases and the organisation as a whole, to the SLT, Board, Global Centre, and other structures as will be directed. Coordinate and compile Safeguarding
• Update Reports with input from different departments and submit to SLT, Global Centre, etc
• Proactively raise awareness and build capacity of staff, partners, affiliates, etc on the WV-Uganda Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy.
• Prepare and submit the Safeguarding Incident Preparedness Plans (SIPPs) for the NO and liaise with the CP team to ensure AP-level SIPPs are in place.
• Follow-up and see through to timely closure the safeguarding cases that emerge from time-to-time, within the timeframe and following the procedures stipulated in the policy.
• Represent WV-Uganda in forums, networks and platforms whose agenda is to make institutions safe for beneficiaries e.g. the Joining Forces Coalition.

CPiE:
The role requires one to enhance World Vision’s CPiE programming at strategy, programme and project design, implementation and Monitoring and Evaluation levels for greater impact on child well-being. Below are the Specific tasks:
• Support design, implementation, Monitoring and evaluation and quality assurance processes for all CPiE interventions.
• Support strategy development, alignment and review processes with input on the CPiE context.
• Build capacity of and provide technical guidance to staff and partners on CPiE programming and provide resources on relevant tools, standards, approaches, principles and concepts in the emergence context.
• Support in the periodic and on-going reporting functions, both internally and externally to donors and other stakeholders as will be directed.
• Represent and build relationships for WV-Uganda at strategic inter-agency, sector-specific, learning and sharing engagements with stakeholders for agenda - influencing, learning and resource development on CPiE matters at national and other levels as will be directed.
• Actively participate in the development and implementation of the Grant Acquisition Business Plan through engagement with relevant donors, as required.
• Provide quality assurance, technical and oversight support during implementation and reporting on CPiE interventions.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.
• A first degree in development studies, social work, Social Sciences or other relevant field is a requirement. Post-graduate degree is an advantage.
• A minimum of seven (7) years post qualification experience in technical leadership and/or field-based programme management roles in the Child Protection sector, preferably in emergency and/or refugee response contexts.
• At least 4 years’ experience serving as the Safeguarding liaison is a must.
• Direct programming experience and expertise in the field of child protection and/or child rights advocacy.
• Good understanding of the CPiE terrain in Uganda and the approaches therein.
• Good understanding of donor dynamics and experience in grant fundraising, proposal development and report writing for emergence response interventions.
• Experience in working on gender-based violence issues is an advantage.
• Knowledge and experience in capacity building methodologies for adults both face to face and remotely using digital communication systems
• Experience in leading teams is an advantage.
• Written and oral communication skills are essential, and the incumbent must be a team builder, who is able to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
• A high level of integrity is required
• Experience of working in the field (both development and emergency response contexts)
• Knowledge of project management and project cycles

NB. Frequent travels across the operational sites are a must!
