Job Summary
The role holder will Promote/sell/secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
He/she will offer agronomy support services, assist company customers with proper product selection and use based on their agronomic needs while maintaining and developing profitable customer relationships.
Responsibilities
• Establish, develop and maintain positive business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the Company’s products/services and ensure future sales and opportunities.
• To achieve agreed sales targets and continuously improve the sales margin within schedule (pipe lines)
• Ensure collection of all outstanding debt and continuously reduce debtor’s portfolio in the department with credit sales not exceeding the credit days’ limit.
• Marketing and sale of agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides and seeds to new and existing small scale, medium scale and large scale clients.
• Marketing and sale of agricultural equipment, irrigation systems, greenhouse systems and other related products by identifying new key potential customers as well as the existing ones, understanding their businesses, determining their needs and developing marketing and sales forecasts and action plans for sales territory growth.
• Identifying and recommending cost-effective solutions to overcoming agronomic challenges such as diseases, insect pest infestation, nutritional deficiencies, physiological disorders, water stress, and other crop related challenges that customers come up against.
• Providing agronomic support services to the customers through organizing, coordinating and facilitating field days, agronomic trainings, workshops and seminars on product knowledge, as well as presentations on Good Agronomic Practices, use of crop protection products, fertilizers, and soil amendment products as well as other agricultural products.
• Developing training manuals and other helpful materials to facilitate field demonstrations, agronomic trainings and presentations during workshops, seminars, etc.
• Carrying out land use surveys, collecting, analyzing and interpreting soil and plant analysis results, and making recommendations based on the same.
• Conducting field investigations, experiments and trials on various crops using different agricultural products and equipment, with the aim of securing more efficient production systems, improved yields and high quality of produce.
• Attending to walk-in clients in need of company agricultural products and services.
• To build a rapport with clients and be proactive in meeting client needs to yield client satisfaction and retention.
• To provide timely oral and written sales reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, potential for new clients, new products and services.
• To expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximum satisfaction.
• Networking with industry representatives and stake holders to expand marketing and sales opportunities.
• Participate in trade shows, business forums and conventions that may be opportune.
• Building company product and market knowledge to add understanding and credibility through constant product and market research and constant day to day sensitization of the masses on company product portfolio.
• Becoming the primary contact between the customers and the Company including handling deliveries, forecasting, credit, complaints, etc.
• Ensuring that health & safety rules that pertain to the agricultural and irrigation stores and the work place in general are adhered to.
• Processing and Obtaining import permits for seeds, fertilizers, crop protection products and any other products that require import permits.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time

Person Specification
Education, Training, Skills & Experience
Qualification:
• An undergraduate degree in Agriculture or any related field.
• Possession of a post-graduate qualification in Sales/Marketing is an added advantage.
• Knowledge in computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, outlook and power point) Experience:
• Minimum of three years’ hands on experience in Agriculture industry

• Ability to determine solutions for customers
• Ability to offer effective agronomy support and strong problem solving skills
• Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and with a team
• Good analytical/numerical skills and attention to detail
