JOB DETAILS:
REPORTING TO: Head of Coverage
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Head of Coverage, the role holder will be responsible for developing and executing business plans for the sector in line with the overall Corporate Banking business strategy. The Sector Head will lead a team of RMs and work closely with product houses and retail to ensure that they get maximum revenue from all the relationships.
The role involves growing the sector balance sheet, and revenue and increasing customer numbers sustainably whilst managing the risk of loss on the portfolio.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Manage client portfolios within the specific sector and are responsible for providing leadership to RMs managing the portfolios.
• Contribute to the achievement of corporate banking revenue targets from the segment.
• Together with the RMs and SRMs, originate and conduct assessments of business propositions for both new and existing clients.
• Support the relationships to protect the Bank from loss, and maximise returns consistent with the business strategy.
• Execute sales plans to ensure that all products meet budget commitments.
• Provide responsive, proactive, proficient, and effective banking service to customers, thereby expanding the share of business.
• Develop a good retention strategy in the portfolio for existing clientele, thereby growing the wallet share.
• Provide ‘Best in Class’ Relationship Management with Corporations – ‘Strengthening the bank’s brand in the corporate arena through participation in Industry events, and organising events for dfcu customers.
• Develop and enforce monitoring/ control procedures.
• Manage the asset portfolio to minimise loss and maximise returns.
• Lead and manage the sector team including responsibility for performance, training and development, and leave management for each team member.
• Selling bank products to corporate customers including Multinationals, Large corporations, Development organizations, Governments and other parastatals enhances growth in customer numbers and achieves overall financial targets.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• A University degree in business-related fields.
• Advanced Leadership training and an MBA will be preferred.
• 5 years of experience in Relationship management skills or a similar position
• 3 -5 Years Experience in managing people.
• Good understanding of corporate bank products including but not limited to; Trade Finance Products, treasury, project finance, lending etc.
• Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of how the role contributes to business success.
• Knowledge of bank products and services.
• Excellent Customer service, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good leadership, performance driving & People management skills.
• Credit analysis and due diligence skills.
• Exceptional client relationship management skills.
• Understanding/management of customer, product, and market risks.
• Good understanding of risk management and mitigation techniques.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a dynamic team.
• Excellent networking skills.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of customers with different business needs.
• Selling skills (to new business, cross-selling to all business lines)
• Ability to manage a complex workload and work to tight deadlines.
• Understanding of varied product solutions required within the bank’s customer base and ability to recommend new products for development about customer feedback received through relationship management.
