JOB DETAILS:

Jubilee Health Insurance Company of Uganda Limited (JHICU) wishes to recruit young, competent, energetic, flexible and committed persons to fill the following position in the Company.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS
JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
REPORTING LINE: Chief Finance
DUTY STATION: Head Office

ROLE PURPOSE
To coordinate the financial reporting function within the Finance department to ensure there is accuracy and completeness of the balance sheet.
He /she will also be responsible for supervising the finance operations team, payables, receivables and cash office in the finance department.

KEY DELIVERABLES
1. Leading, supervising and mentoring the finance operations team, payments, cash office and receivables.
2. Preparation of statutory financial accounts for CFO review and submission, alignment of disclosures and conforming to the applicable IFRS Standards as per the ruling regulations.
3. Preparing management accounting schedules that feed into group reporting on a monthly basis.
4. Monthly balance sheet assurance and review of all accounts including cash and bank items to ensure that the company balance sheet has been fully reconciled and signed off by the reviewers, preparers and CFO.
5. Daily cash analysis and investment schedule preparation and analysis, monitoring of maturities and placement opportunities to ensure the best rates for the earning assets.
6. In charge of external assurance audits, internal and risk reviews to ensure that these are concluded with a satisfactory audit rating and minimal to no repeat findings from previous reviews
7. Preparing draft finance board papers for board finance and investment committee for subsequent review by the CFO as per the reporting requirements.
8. Disclosure preparation under IFRS17 reporting requirements.
9. Develop controls and documentation around estimates and judgement in IFRS17 implementation for data & results consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
10. Key finance lead on system setup of GL Accounts, Finance System operations, data flow issues and tracking for resolution.
11. Mapping of accounts, development of accounting reports/disclosures, documentation, and communication.
12. IFRS17 inputs to regulatory reports i.e., Quarterly returns to IRA, UIA, BOU and tax computations for URA

QUALIFICATIONS
1. A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting and Finance or any related field from a recognized University.
2. Full Qualification CPAU/ACCA

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
1. 5 Years’ experience in financial sector (Insurance Industry)
2. Relevant general insurance and health insurance related knowledge.
