Summary of Job Description
The Project Communications Officer at the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI) is a high-level role responsible for coordinating all communications activities within the organization. The job holder will report directly to the CEO and will play a crucial role in enhancing MCI's brand visibility, maintaining effective internal and external communication channels, and ensuring consistent messaging across various platforms. The position requires exceptional agility, excellent communication skills, and a strategic mindset.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):
• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with MCI's mission and goals.
• Create and manage content for MCI's various communication channels, including social media, email marketing, and website content.
• Develop and manage relationships with media partners and other stakeholders to enhance MCI's visibility and reach.
• Coordinate MCI's media and public relations activities, including managing press releases, media briefings, and interviews.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of MCI's communication efforts, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor media coverage and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
• Support the CEO in crafting speeches, high-level Ms Powerpoint presentations, and other communication materials.
• Organize and manage media events, press conferences, and other communication-related activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective internal communication, including employee engagement initiatives, newsletters, and updates.
• Develop a Strategic communication plans for the MCI and selected partners
• Develop a communication Reputational risk assessment and management plan for MCI
• Train MCI select MCI partners on how to develop and implement an impactful communication strategy

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
• Increase MCI's social media following by 20% within the first 6 months of employment.
• Increase the number of media mentions of MCI by 30% within the first year of employment.
• Develop and execute successful communication strategies for all major MCI events and Communications clients.
• Maintain a positive and professional image of MCI through effective communication.
• KRA: Develop a Strategic Communication Plan for MCI and selected partners.
• Completion of communication plan within the set timeline.
• Alignment between the communication plan and overall organizational goals.
• Identification and evaluation of potential reputational risks associated with MCI.
• Development of a risk assessment framework and methodology.
• Implementation of risk mitigation strategies outlined in the plan.
• Regular monitoring and evaluation of reputational risks and their management.
• At least 4 MCI partners trained per year. i.e 1 per quarter
• An excellent Level of understanding and proficiency of partners in implementing communication strategies.
• Assessment of partner satisfaction with the training program.
• Application of learned communication strategies by partners in their respective roles.
• Measurement of the impact of partner-led communication initiatives on MCI's overall communication effectiveness.

Qualifications:
• Essential: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience doing corporate communications.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of Media relations and Public Relations strategies.
• Knowledge of social media platforms, analytics, and monitoring tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Desirable: A master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Diplomatic studies or any related field.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven experience in a similar role.
