JOB DETAILS:
JOB TITLE: Senior Data Scientist
REPORTS TO: Head Of Strategy And Data

The bank recently acquired a tier 1 licence, and it is growing and expanding its operations, leading to new openings, and opportunities for people who wish to grow their careers in Banking. The bank therefore wishes to recruit a competent, hardworking, dependable, and flexible resource, with a clean track record for the role that has fallen vacant.

Job Purpose
• Creating new, experimental frameworks to collect data
• Building tools to automate data collection
• Searching through large data sets for usable information
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Correlating similar data to find actionable results

Key Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
• Support with the execution and management of special projects related to analytics
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging Bank data to drive business solutions
• Mine and analyse data from Bank databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
• Assess the e¬ectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
• Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
• Use predictive modelling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation and other business outcomes
• Coordinate with di¬erent functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.

Education And Training
• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline
• 4+ years’ experience in the financial services industry (experience in a Tier 1 financial institution is an advantage)
• 4+ years’ experience in data analysis, systems analysis and data manipulation
• Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
• Advanced pattern recognition and predictive modelling experience
• Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPivot, MS PowerPivot, SQL Server Integration Services
• Proficiency in at-least 3 programming languages i.e., SQL, JavaScript, Python, R etcetera.

Skills And Experience
• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python etcetera.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
• Experience working with and creating data architectures
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etcetera) and experience with applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
• Strong business acumen.
