PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• To establish, plan and manage the University’s databases used by the different information systems.
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Plan, design, implement and maintain University databases.
• Plan and administer disaster recovery measures for University databases.
• Support academic and administrative units in specifying, implementing and maintaining their internal database systems.
• Plan and implement business continuity efforts for the various University databases.
• Plan for database security, growth and improvements.
• Manage database licensing issues.
• Maintain configuration maps and documentation of University databases.
• Ensure integrity of the University data in various information systems.
• Oversee data consolidation and reporting.
• Carry out a trend watch function in the database management field and plan for innovations.
• Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
KEY OUTPUTS
• Keep the LMS up to date
• Staff supported on eLearning
• Users accounts maintained
• Reports submitted
PERSONS SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or software Engineering.
• Honor’s Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or software Engineering or related ICT discipline; Specialization in database management; Oracle and CompTIA security certification are added advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years working experience in the field of database management with at least 3 years at senior level in a large and reputable organization
