JOB DETAILS:
The Senior Education Caseworker (SEC) will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator and is responsible to oversee the project implementation and monitor the school social work activities carried out in Kyangwali refugee settlement. The person will be based in Hoima office, supervising field activities carried out in Kyangwali, providing guidance to Education Caseworkers (ECs) and reporting to supervisors. The person may occasionally have business trips to Kampala.

Scope of work for Senior Education Caseworker:
• Work with ECs develop the work-plan with clearly stated milestones corresponding to the project outputs
• Supervise and provide technical support and direction to ECs for design and timely implementation of school social work for children at risk of dropping out of school.
• Provide guidance to ECs and follow up on a daily basis on the activities implemented.
• Assist in monitoring daily expenditure to ensure project budgets are spent within acceptable limits and timelines
• Monitor progresses of project activities against work-plan and report to supervisors on a regular basis.
• Participate in planning and implementation of school social work activities through assessment, case planning and case implementation, follow up and monitoring.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify and register individual cases eligible for referral to relevant agencies for necessary assistance.
• Update on a daily basis the database of children and ensure that progress is updated in the database consistently and completely.
• Ensure that all data well documented and stored with due consideration of confidentiality and data protection principles.
• Collect and share any relevant information through attending coordination meetings and consultative meetings to represent AAR Japan.
• Coordinate and supervise locally-hired contractors and temporary assistant staff for the project in lieu of Programme Coordinator.
• Perform any other duties if requested by supervisors.

Experience required:
• More than 3 years of experience in field of Project Management/Coordination in INGO sector
• More than 5 years of experience in implementing case work with an INGO.
• More than 5 years of experience in emergency relief activities in humanitarian organizations (past experience working with refugee communities, especially with Congolese refugee a plus).
• Experience in implementing projects related to education, social work, child protection, especially in emergency context.
• Experience in working with schools

Qualifications required:
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (Education, Social works, Counselling, Psychology etc.).
• Ugandan citizen, residing in Uganda and able to station in Hoima/Kikuube
• Excellent PC literacy including word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheets (MS Excel)
• Strong coordination and negotiation skills with stakeholders and problem-solving skills
• Excellent at working as a part of the team, especially reporting to supervisor in a timely manner
• High integrity, self-driven, able to work under challenging circumstances, and able to complete assignments with tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
• Solid drafting/reporting skills
• Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy
• Respect punctuality

Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Swahihi, French or other local languages widely spoken among DRC refugees is an advantage.
