On behalf of our client FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE AUTHORITY, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Senior Legal & Corporate Services Officer to work in Uganda.

JOB TITLE : SENIOR LEGAL AND CORPORATE SERVICES OFFICER
SALARY SCALE : FIA 5
REPORTS TO : MANAGER LEGAL AND CORPORATE SERVICES
SUPERVISES : LEGAL OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE.
To provide legal and policy expertise ensuring that the Authority is well advised on all legal issues involved in its operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist the Legal Manager in drafting, providing competent, sound, accurate and timely legal advice, opinions and legal support including interpretation of the provisions of AML/CFT laws and regulations.
2. Represent FIA in all litigation matters.
3. Participate in the review of existing legislation, rules, and regulations pertaining to the Authority and recommend appropriate amendments.
4. Prepare and review court documents for civil suits/litigation.
5. Assist in the preparation, review, negotiation, execution and registration of contracts and other legal documents on behalf of the Authority.
6. Undertake research by studying Laws, Statutes, Constitutions, Regulations, Court opinions, including precedents and reasoning;
7. Consult with relevant stakeholders like officials of Ministries/Departments/entities and attend meetings to give professional legal advice.
8. Prepare quarterly performance reports;
9. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications
1. Honours Bachelor Degree in Law;
2. Post Graduate Diploma in Legal practice;
3. Enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
4. A Masters in Law is an added advantage.
5. And any other relevant discipline.

Experience
A minimum of 5 years Relevant work experience as a practicing lawyer either in a government or reputable organization

Competencies
1. Knowledge of the national and international AML/CFT/CPF framework.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Authority’s vision, mission and objectives;
3. Should possess values of the Authority which include; integrity, confidentiality, Accountability, professionalism.
4. Basic computer skills – Windows and Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook, Word, Excel). Practical ability in applying tools for digital content delivery and testing is an added advantage.
5. Effective presentation and communication skills.
6. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
