JOB DETAILS:
Job summary: The Senior Operations Manager (SOM) will be responsible for management of all Operation activities within the Samaritan's Purse Uganda country office as well as supporting Regional Procurement requirements taking place within Uganda. He/she will be based in Kampala, Uganda, and report directly to the Samaritan's Purse Uganda Country Director.
Primary duties & responsibilities:
• Oversee team of up to 10 staff to meet Operations needs of
Samaritan's Purse Uganda
• Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of procurement plans for country programs.
• Manage and oversee all aspects of logistics and procurements purchased domestically and international.
• Coordinate with regional country offices in South Sudan and DRC in support of large procurements from vendors within Uganda. Maintain and update Regional Procurement Standard Operating Procedures.
• Facilitate international procurement and logistics in compliance with all government regulations, as applicable, and coordinating exemption processing, pre-inspections and freight forwarding as needed.
• Oversee all aspects of in-country Information Technology.
• Assess and build the capacity of the Operations staff through mentoring, goal setting, and training.
• Demonstrate exemplary Christian servant leadership in all aspects of work and relationships.
• Support the Country Director in fostering spiritual support, encouragement and growth among all staff.
• Participate in morning devotions and maintain a strong Christian Witness to colleagues, project stakeholders, project beneficiaries, and the general public.
Essential altitudes & abilities:
•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations management, or any other related field•
• Master's degree in a related field will be added advantage.
•Minimum of Five (5) years' experience in similar role within the NGO sector.
•Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, with experience of supervising others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and
PowerPoint).
•Commitment to empathy, integrity, responsibility, transparency and efficiency.
• Must hold a valid driver's permit.
