JOB DETAILS:
The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) was established under the National Environment Act, Cap. 153 and continued under the National Environment Act No-5 of 2019 as the Principal Agency for Environment Management in Uganda with mandate to Regulate, Monitor, Supervise and Coordinate all activities relating to the environment in Uganda.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified NEMA staff to fill the following vacant positions on the new NEMA structure.

Main purpose of the job
To effectively manage the Public Relations function of the Authority

Duties and responsibilities
1. Support the development and implementation of Work Plans, Budgets and preparation of timely reports
2. Support development and implementation of NEMA communications strategy
3. Participate in the building and management of NEMA image and reputation
4. Publicize and communicate NEMA programmes to all stakeholders
5. Effectively promote accurate media coverage about NEMA’s mandate
6. Support preparation of regular press releases, statements and articles
7. Support the implementation of NEMA Client Charter
8. Participate in the development of NEMA’s newsletter
9. Support development and promotion of corporate social responsibility programs
10. Supervise, appraise and mentor staff
11. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
• An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism

• Master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources, Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism.

Experience
• Should have at least a minimum of three (3) years post qualification professional relevant working experience in communications and public relations three of which should have been at senior level in a reputable institution.
