JOB DETAILS:
Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008 with the following Statutory Objectives:
• To promote and contribute to the Development of Tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda
• To coordinate with the Ministry responsible for Tourism and the private sector in the implementation of the National Tourism policy
• To carry out any other activities as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the two objectives specified above.

Job title: Senior Public Relations Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Supervises: None
Main Purpose of the Job
To develop and implement the public relations policy and communication strategy and enhance the corporate image and credibility of UTB and be the mouth piece of the Organization
Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate all public relations activities, developing a brand communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics.
• Develop a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media.
• Develop strategies for the enhancement of the Organization's corporate image both within and outside the country
• Develop and maintain a functional communications system and strengthen communications across the Board that will ensure impact on internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and implement a communications strategy for the organization.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and public media in implementing UTB's public relations programmes.
• Take lead in publicity in organizing local and international events where UTB's participation is required
• Develop and coordinate the implementation of the Organization's corporate social responsibility
• Prepare periodic public relations reports in line with UTB's reporting guidelines
• Undertake and/or oversee research to establish the image/ perception towards the organization
• Monitor and evaluate the organisation and the destination's presence in media.
• Perform any other duty as assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Experience
• Honours Bachelor's Degree in either public relations, Mass Communication, Journalism, Literature in English or its equivalent from a recognized University.
• A post graduate diploma in either Mass Communication public relations, journalism Literature in English, or related field from recognized Institution.
• Should have at least five years relevant working experience in a busy and reputable private or public Organization.
• Should be a member of Public Relations Association of Uganda.
• Knowledge of a second international language is an added advantage.
