The World Bank Group's Governance Global Practice (GGP) is seeking to recruit a highly qualified Senior Financial Management Specialist to be based in the World Bank Country Office in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The Senior Financial Management Specialist is expected to perform a full range of operational duties, and lead in all financial management (FM) aspects related to the World Bank's financed operations, and will manage advisory and technical assistance tasks. This will include, but not limited to: assessing the adequacy of project financial management arrangements, participating in implementation support missions projects financed by loans, credits and grants including Trust Funds; ensuring compliance with the Bank’s audit and fiduciary requirements, ensuring that the projects operations are carried out in accordance with sound financial management practices and performing analytical work on financial management and financial accountability issues in support of building client capacity. The Senior Financial Management Specialist will work from the World Bank Burundi Country Office, and will be responsible for all financial management (FM) aspects related to the World Bank’s operations for Burundi and other countries as determined by the Practice Manager. S/he will interact with (a) Counterparts in government and in a variety of international and professional organizations; (b) Counterparts within and across the GGP, other Practices/Cross Cutting Solution Areas (CCSA) and the Country Management Unit (CMU); (c) Managers and senior management in Washington and in the field.

Selection Criteria and Electronic Applications:

The successful candidate should be a professional accountant (CPA, CA or equivalent) with a degree (preferably an advance degree) in accounting, business, finance, economics or related disciplines, with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in financial management. French language is necessary, with a good understanding of written and spoken English. Experience and in-depth familiarity with public sector financial management is necessary.
