JOB DETAILS:
JOB SUMMARY
Provides technical support to the Senior Control Engineer in implementing all the software Key Results Areas at the UETCL National Control Center.

KEY RESULT AREAS
• Ensure proper and efficient operation of the Network Manager System software on a day-to-day basis.
• Provide technical support to the planning and implementation of the expansion/Up grading of the network Manager System Software is efficient and in conformity with agreed standards.
• Carry out corrective and mandatory routine maintenance of the Network Manager System Software.
• Carry out data engineering and database maintenance.
• Ensure that power system data is presented in a manner that makes engineering sense access to logged data.
• Ensure that relevant backups of the database and system files are periodically made, marked appropriately and kept safely.
• Appraise and document standard test/maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate the timely update of software licenses so as to maintain system availability all the time.
• Ensure that suspected software and hardware errors are logged and coordinate with Software Support team from Network Manager Vendor/Manufacturer to have them fixed appropriately without compromising system availability.
• Control system adaptation works when new stations/objects to be remotely monitored are introduced. Build the new station or add new objects to existing stations database using the Data Engineering tool.

THE PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
• A bachelors’ degree with honours in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field from a recognised institution.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in SCADA Systems with a bias in software applications used in power systems control operations.
• Good knowledge of Software maintenance specifics.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATION
The holder of this position will be offered a contract subject to the Ministry of Public Service Guidelines on the rationalization Exercise of Government Institutions.
