JOB DETAILS:
JOB PURPOSE
Through your skills, education and understanding of disabilities you will make an important contribution to Imprint Hope’s work to serve children with disabilities and their families. Your role will contribute to empowering families to understand their child’s disability by educating parents on how children with disabilities can learn in a modified manner. Your creative and understanding approach will enable families to help their child engage and interact with tasks that are developmentally appropriate. You will work closely with Imprint Hope’s Therapy and Medical Team to ensure children are provided with an understanding environment to help them learn.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan the just-right-challenge lesson plans for children with special needs at Imprint Hope’s Center on a daily basis.
• Creatively work through challenges children with disabilities encounter through daily innovative and education interventions and consultation with Imprint Hope team members.
• Collaborate with Imprint Hope’s Social Workers and Therapists to help all children with disabilities reach their full potential.
• Conduct initial assessment of children with disabilities to assess their developmental level upon admission at Imprint Hope’s Center.
• Assess and write SMART goals for children while at Imprint Hope’s training course.
• Complete daily note to document child’s response, engagement and interaction during your special education activities.
• Plan and organize creative group lessons for children with disabilities at Imprint Hope’s
• Center to increase their quality of life and acceptance in their home environment and family life.
• Educate family members on adaptive and/or creative ways of handling their child’s special needs.
• Organize and lead group family discussions and community desensitization programs on how to interact, teach and talk to and about children with disabilities.
• Creatively think of learning opportunities for children with special needs when they are discharged from Imprint Hope’s Center.
• Collaborate with special education and inclusion schools throughout Uganda to help children under Imprint Hope’s Program to gain an education.
• Perform follow-up visits in the home environment to ensure children under Imprint
• Hope’s program has opportunities to learn in their home environment.

Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory Requirements
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Special Education etc)
• Fluent English and Luganda speaker
• Basic Computer Skills – typing, email, Microsoft Word and Excel,
• Basic English-writing skills (ability to write basic sentences and paragraphs for emails, reports etc)
• Experience working with or knowledge about persons with disabilities is a plus.
