JOB DETAILS:
Purpose
The Specialist, Business Incubation will bare primary responsibility of supporting pioneers of climate smart agricultural innovations to turn them into profitable business ventures from idea to scale. S/he will design & manage the end-to-end processes across ideation, incubation, acceleration, investment, and commercialization stages for UCIF innovations; helping pioneers take their projects and ventures into long term value and market disruption (transformative scale).

Responsibilities
• Lead the establishment of innovation processes and support environment from ideation over incubation to acceleration, including agile or lean approaches to design, build and launch new climate smart agricultural products, service, experiences and business models.
• Support UCIF pioneers in their problem discovery and market validation.
• Plan and execute a range of Innovation events such as pitch/demo days, boot camps, workshops, hackathons, innovation relays, etc. to achieve the desired outcomes for all stakeholders.
• Contribute to the design of the selection methodology and process for UCIF pioneers in collaboration with the wider CSJ partners and stakeholders.
• Plan for and facilitate access to innovation and incubation facilities and resources including maker space and equipment, mentors, coaches, and key technical resources
• Assist pioneers to develop, design, and reinvent innovative business models/business plans that will create long term value and disrupt the market.
• Ensure financial readiness of pioneers and facilitate linkage for blended finances.
• Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to pioneers in areas such as business modelling, sales, and marketing, financing, fundraising, overall strategy, operations etc.
• Support in sourcing and selecting, concept note and application evaluation, due diligence and selection committee briefing to aid selection of innovations.
• Develop the mentor network for the Incubation program and work with them to make the incubated ventures are successful.
• Arrange networking events between the pioneers and industry leaders, including collaboration and marketing opportunities.
• Work with the communication teams in developing updates and progress reports to various stakeholders.
• Conduct industry/sector research to identify opportunities, partners, and industry experts
• Ensure the collection and analysis of relevant M&E data, aggregate and prepare incubation results for program reports

Person Specification
Education, Training, Skills & Experience Formal minimum qualification 1
• Type of qualification: First Degree
• Field of study: Business Commerce
Other qualifications, Certifications or Professional Memberships
• Commerce graduate, preferably BSc Agric (Economics), B.Agman (Hons) or B.Comm (Agric) Honors
• Valuation certificate is an advantage
