JOB DETAILS:
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Secretariat has approved a Project Document in Uganda for a $1,050,000 medium sized project with funding from the newly established Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT). The project entitled “Strengthening the Capacity of Institutions in Uganda to comply with the Transparency Requirements of the Paris Agreement" will be executed by the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment, the Africa Innovations institute and the Vital Signs Program. The implementation will be done by Conservation international’s GEF Project Agency

The main objective of this project is to support institutions in Uganda to respond to the Transparency

Requirements of the Paris Agreement. The main components of the project are:

• Establishing & strengthening the institutional arrangements for robust Green House Gases (GHG) emission inventory and MRV System
  
• Building the capacity of key stakeholders to collect, process and feed gender disaggregated data into the GHG emissions inventory and MRV system
  
• Testing and piloting the GHG emission inventory and MRV system. Following project implementation approval, the Africa innovations Institute seeks to appoint qualified individuals for the following positions:

Statistician/GHG Expert:
S/he will be responsible for accurate functioning of GHG inventory system based at the Climate Change Directorate, Support the Climate Change Directorate to process, analyze, interpret and use results from the GHG inventory system to accurately report to UNFCCC and NPA, support hubs to establish functional mini-GHG inventory systems, support capacity building activities for the hubs and stakeholders in monitoring, reporting and verification of GHG data and support capacity building activities for the hubs and stakeholders in monitoring, reporting and verification of GHG data.
