Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Superintendent of Works specializing in Earthworks to join our team. As the Superintendent of Works, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of earthworks in water irrigation projects. Your expertise in civil engineering and earthworks will ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Plan and coordinate the execution of earthworks activities in water irrigation projects, including excavation, grading, compaction, and soil stabilization.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop detailed work schedules, resource allocations, and equipment requirements for earthworks.
• Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards during the execution of earthworks.
• Supervise and monitor construction activities to ensure proper techniques, quality control, and adherence to safety regulations.
• Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and machinery required for earthworks.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, identify issues, and ensure compliance with project timelines.
• Resolve technical issues, conflicts, and challenges related to earthworks and provide technical guidance and support to construction teams.
• Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and shop drawings related to earthworks.
• Monitor and manage project costs, including budgeting and controlling expenses related to earthworks.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in earthworks or a similar role.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares).

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge and understanding of earthworks principles, including excavation, grading, compaction, and soil stabilization techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to earthworks.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute construction activities within defined timelines and budgets.
• Familiarity with relevant construction codes, regulations, and industry standards for earthworks.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address technical challenges and find practical solutions.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in construction, specifically related to earthworks.
• Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software applications for earthworks design and analysis.
• Strong leadership and team management skills to supervise and motivate construction teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in earthworks.
