Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent of Works specializing in Hydraulic/Drainage Works to join our team. As the Superintendent of Works, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction and implementation of hydraulic and drainage systems in water irrigation projects. Your expertise in civil engineering, specifically in hydraulic and drainage works, will ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to high-quality standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of hydraulic and drainage works in water irrigation projects.
• Monitor and supervise construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop detailed work schedules and resource allocations for hydraulic and drainage works.
• Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and machinery required for hydraulic and drainage construction.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality control measures, and project specifications.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, conflicts, and challenges related to hydraulic and drainage works during the construction phase.
• Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams, ensuring proper installation and operation of hydraulic and drainage systems.
• Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and shop drawings related to hydraulic and drainage works.
• Monitor and manage project costs, including budgeting and controlling expenses related to hydraulic and drainage works.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in hydraulic and drainage works or a similar role.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares).

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge and understanding of hydraulic and drainage systems, including design principles, installation methods, and maintenance requirements.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to hydraulic and drainage works.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute construction activities within defined timelines and budgets.
• Familiarity with relevant construction codes, regulations, and industry standards for hydraulic and drainage works.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address technical challenges and find practical solutions.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in construction, specifically related to hydraulic and drainage works.
• Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software applications for hydraulic and drainage system design and analysis.
• Strong leadership and team management skills to supervise and motivate construction teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in hydraulic and drainage works.
