Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent of Works specializing in Road Works to join our team. As the Superintendent of Works, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of road construction and maintenance in water irrigation projects. Your expertise in civil engineering and road works will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of projects while adhering to project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, and supervise all road construction and maintenance activities in water irrigation projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop detailed work plans, schedules, and resource allocations for road works.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, design drawings, and relevant codes and standards during the execution of road works.
• Oversee the selection and procurement of construction materials, equipment, and machinery required for road works.
• Provide guidance and technical support to construction teams, ensuring proper construction techniques, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of road works, identify any issues, and implement necessary corrective actions.
• Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and shop drawings related to road works.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Monitor project costs and budgets related to road works, and take proactive measures to control expenses and optimize resource utilization.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on road works to project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in road construction and maintenance or a similar role.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares).

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of road construction and maintenance principles, including grading, drainage, pavement design, and road safety measures.
• Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and relevant codes and standards related to road works.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise construction activities effectively.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in construction, particularly related to road works.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities to supervise and motivate construction teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all road works.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Proficient in using construction software, computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and other relevant applications for planning and analysis of road works.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address technical challenges and find appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
