JOB DETAILS:
Overall purpose of the job: The overall purpose of the job is to plan, supervise, and ensure the proper construction, maintenance, and management of main feeder roads, track networks, and bridges. The goal is to provide well-built roads with proper drainage, appropriate cambering, and good quality marram, while also ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, supervise, and ensure the proper construction of main feeder roads, track networks, and bridges.
2. Ensure regular maintenance of roads, including proper drainage, appropriate cambering, and the use of good quality marram.
3. Monitor the attendance and punctuality of subordinate staff and take appropriate action as necessary.
4. Assign and allocate specific job tasks to subordinate staff, and monitor their performance.
5. Ensure that machinery and equipment are correctly set and aligned for efficient and productive functioning.
6. Locate and establish sources of good quality marram for road construction and ensure proper excavation.
7. Ensure that road construction and earthmoving machinery undergo scheduled preventive maintenance and servicing.
8. Monitor fuel usage and consumption to control possible abuse and pilferage.
9. Maintain daily records of section activities and provide on-the-job training to enhance the skills of the workforce.
10. Ensure that mandatory daily checks and services of vehicles, machinery, and equipment are properly conducted by operators/drivers.
11. Enforce the company's Safety, Health, and Environment policy at work.
12. Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor as required.

These responsibilities aim to ensure the construction, maintenance, and management of high-quality roads and infrastructure, while promoting safety, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and standards.

Education:
• A degree in Agricultural Engineering is required for this position.

Experience, Skills, and Competences:
• The candidate should have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar job, preferably in road maintenance. They should possess knowledge in road maintenance practices and techniques. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure the proper construction and maintenance of roads. Good task allocation skills are important for assigning and managing subordinate staff effectively. Strong record-keeping abilities are necessary to maintain accurate documentation of activities. Excellent report writing skills are essential for documenting project progress and communicating effectively. Good communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
