Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Telephone Operator Supervisor.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time, 40 hours per week.

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: Yes

Duties:  Under the supervision of the Information Programs Officer (IPO) performs a variety of administrative support functions the Information Resource Management (IRM) section. Provides administrative support for IRM visitors and Temporary Duty (TDY) personnel. Supervises one full time Telephone Operator and provides orientation and customer service training for them.  Acts as the Timekeeper for all Locally Employed (LE) Staff in IRM.  Responsible for maintaining the Mission Directory and Phone Tree and disseminating it monthly.  Coordinates the conference room scheduling for all mission conference rooms.  Serves as Telephone Operator/Receptionist when the primary operator is unavailable.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education:  Two years of College/University studies is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Two years of administrative work experience is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have a good understanding of switchboard operation and the various telecommunication services within the country

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Fluent Knowledge in speaking/reading/writing English is required. Limited Knowledge in speaking/reading/writing in a commonly used language is required This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Good typing skills (20 wpm), good working knowledge with Microsoft Office suite.   Ability to deal with the public, operate the telephone switchboard and handle conflicting demands is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and SharePoint website at a contributor level is required.   This may be tested.

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
