Job details:
Our client, the Embassy of Sweden in Kampala, Uganda has a mandate to promote relationships between Uganda and Sweden through trade and investment, development cooperation, cultural exchange, political dialogue and service to Swedish and foreign citizens with issues related to Swedish authorities. They are now seeking to hire a professional to fill the position of Trade Promotion and Information Officer in the Political and Economic section.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, implementation and follow up of events and activities that promote trade and investments between Uganda and Sweden
• Guidance to Swedish businesses on Ugandan laws, rules and practices for starting and running businesses, how to trade with and invest in Uganda;
• Planning, implementation and follow up of activities to strengthen the image of Sweden, Swedish core values, ideas and culture in Uganda, and for inquiries about Sweden in Uganda;
• Informing relevant stakeholders about activities and events that the Embassy is engaged in through local media, the Embassy webpage and social media;
• Developing a network with key media houses, and serving as a focal point for the Embassy press and media events.

Minimum qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills
The ideal candidate should possess;

• A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, public relations, communications, political science or related field;
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience from work with the private sector in Uganda, either from a business perspective or from an organisation working with private sector related issues;
• Experience developing communication strategies including use of online, print and social media channels;
• Strong analytical capacity with critical attention to detail;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills with experience of working in a multi-cultural environment,
• Ability to adhere to rules and regulations of the Embassy of Sweden;
•  Experience from the private sector in East Africa or Sweden will be an added advantage.
