JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To implement recruitment, clinical evaluation and care of research participants and or their newborns

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Participant recruitment and retention- screen pregnant women for study eligibility, enrols and follows up with study participants.
• Clinical care- Provides clinical care to study participants and conducts referrals as appropriate
• Data collection and management- Collects data as required by the protocol, completes source documents and CRFs and submits them for data entry, and resolves queries
• Prescription of medication for clinical care and for study related purposes
• Administrative- supervises other study team members: The research midwives, research assistants, Village health workers supervisor. Medical officer will be the overall coordinator of the hub
• Conducting of continued professional development (CPD) training activities and maintenance of documentation of such trainings
• Preparation of progress reports to the Data supervisor and the PI
• PI designee duties- performs other duties assigned by the Principal Investigator

Qualification and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery
• Evidence of Completion of internship
• Registered with Uganda Medical and dental practitioner’s council (UMDPC)
• Must demonstrate interest in research
• Experience in clinical research is an added advantage
• Certificate in good clinical practice
• Clinical research experience is an added advantage
• Medical knowledge and ability to manage Neonatal and maternal illnesses
• Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Good writing and communication skills

Essential skills and Specifications
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Fluency in verbal and written English
• Ability to communicate in any of these local languages (Lumasaba, Lugwere, Ateso and/or Luganda) is an added advantage
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated/driven.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to professionally communicate in writing, verbally or other means deemed appropriate.
