OVERVIEW

The U-RIL Officer will be responsible for supporting the Lab Manager and the entire Lab team in running operations for the Response Innovation Lab in Uganda with a focus on coordinating multi stakeholder activities including events and workshops, reporting and logistics. He/She will provide support with all operational and administrative tasks necessary to support the day-to-day work of the Lab in line with the SCI requirements.
The incumbent will provide support in building the country wide humanitarian innovation ecosystem.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program Implementation: Under the leadership of the Lab Manager, ensure the execution of the RIL Functions of convening and mapping the ecosystem, facilitating connections between challenge-holders and solution-providers, and support to innovators.
• Support with all administrative, logistical and operational task required to run the Lab Day to day activities effectively.
• Coordinate U-RIL events and workshops such as convening events, lessons learnt sessions, community and innovator information sharing events etc are planned, designed and implemented in line with the U-RIL plans and priorities (in line with grant requirements if relevant), including drafting and disseminating invitations, develop participants list, support in defining the agenda and organizational set-up, produce workshop outcome report.
• Support the stakeholder’s engagement, in particular with partners especially innovators, including organizing meetings and follow-ups, developing agendas, taking the minutes and reporting.
• Project coordination support to ensure delivery and implementation of the lab work-plan, with oversight from the U-RIL Manager
• Support in organising all meetings.
Learning and Reporting
• Support the preparation of timely, evidence-based and high quality technical/narrative and financial reports for external grants.
• Support the documentation of lessons learnt and research related to the small grants mechanism and other activities of the U-RIL.
• Support external communication as appropriate.
• Support fundraising efforts as required, this can include support in compiling proposal, case studies, gathering data
Partnership Engagement
• Support the selected U-RIL partners to undergo the contracting, reporting and financial management processes required and serve as their liaison to the Finance or Supply department of Save the Children
• Work closely with selected partners to support implementation of agreed plans including through field monitoring visits of project and support the development of their sustainability plan for development beyond the partnership with U-RIL
• Travel to project sites for convene events, peer-learning visits, community feedback sessions and conduct regular monitoring of innovation projects by partners.
To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in International development, business administration, communications or related studies
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in the innovation ecosystem
• Experience with administrative tasks such as procurement, planning, reporting, etc.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
• Solid understanding of obtaining, and working with, consent in refugee response work
• Ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, and maintain positive attitude.
• Functions well in a dynamic and high paced environment
• A team player and self-starter with good networking skills and project management skills
• A commitment to humanitarian and Response Innovation Lab principles and values
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, word, etc.)
• Good understanding of innovation and the issues and challenges around it
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and events.
• Able to produce high quality reports/papers.
• Tech savvy with experience with interacting with online platforms and data visualisation
• Knowledge of the Uganda humanitarian Innovation ecosystem is a plus.
• Excellent data presentation skills and ability to tailor products to audience
• Experience working with an (I)NGO or other development/humanitarian actor
